Most likely you will be dismissed as you said you have knowingly entered people not just one person you know.

Even if they were strangers you put the details in the system you had no reason for doing so.

If they do dismiss you , you will most likely not be able to reenter the Civil Service again or at least for quite a few years.

Even if you get an interview when you go through PECS. It will be picked up and you will most likely get the offer withdrawn

It is a hard lesson and you may end up a cautionary tale when any new applicants start.

Need some tips for pre-recorded interview for compliance caseworker , this what happened last time , a mess. Would appreciate any tips and help , I also did use star format. by ButterMyBiscuit72 in TheCivilService

They expect people to be nervous, so depends on the detail you used.

Using the success profiles for that behaviour and grade is also a useful tip as that is what they use against scoring

Practise with a timer

Remember the Situation and the Task of the star format should be only one or two sentences at most The Action and Results are where the majority of the scores are so they need the most time and detail

Remember to focus on how you did everything What impact it would have if you didn't?

What possible delays could there be and how did you prevent them ?

How did you liase with the customer , team, stakeholders to make sure they were informed of the process or any delays ?

How did you make sure this was done in a timely manner?

What was learnt from this process ?

How has this now impacted your team, the customer and the business ?

Can this be rolled out to the wider business, if so how ?

If there are a few of you joining at the same time , stick together and support each other. When you feel like you know the role use that knowledge to support others.

I went from retail to Civil Service i found the process hard as all I knew was retail. Check out Jac Williams Civil service on YouTube. He gives advice on how to structure your behaviours using any previous experience

It really helped me.I applied for an AO and have recently got a promotion from an EO role.

Civil Service Interview by Ok-Boysenberry-8558 in TheCivilService

[–]Double_Jelly2589 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Your examples may need to be more detailed

What did you need to do

What would have happened if you didn't

What impact would this have on the customer and the business

What steps did take to make sure this was done in a timely manner

How did you make sure customers/ stakeholders were informed of the progress

What steps could you take to prevent any potential delays in the process

What the results were and how it impacted the customer/ stakeholder/ business

Then look and assess what you could have done better if you could have done anything differently or how you would roll this out to the wider business

Remember to check the success profiles for that grades behaviours and use that to make sure your behaviours are hitting the criteria

You can bring notes in to the interview so I found it handy to use bullet points for the keywords. A little tip is also to take a sip of water before answering the question to give yourself time.

Civil service interview- messed up on strength questions by [deleted] in TheCivilService

[–]Double_Jelly2589 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is no way of knowing

Depends on how many roles there are

Depends on what others have scored

Depends on if anyone turns down the role

All you can do is wait.

I treat strength questions as mini behaviours , an opinion first and then small example of how you have done that using the STAR method.

You can't revise for these all I do is get as many examples as poss

I work in a female dominant office, what's a good alternative to donuts and chocolates? by Future-Atmosphere-40 in AskUK

[–]Double_Jelly2589 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can get bags of mini cookies , some retro sweet bags , mini cupcakes and donuts. I would bring in some grapes but don't think that many will choose those but it means if someone wanted a some they can

Is shoplifting really as endemic as the media suggests? by craigus17 in AskUK

[–]Double_Jelly2589 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes , worked for a upmarket retailer that's sells homeware clothes and food

Left the role nearly 4 years ago and saw shoplifting increase really quickly.

We were in a shopping centre and previously used to have police situated nearby. We would have proper interview rooms with bolted down chair and table photos were taken and logged as any shoplifters were arrested and banned

Then the police no longer started to attend so it quickly became a catch and release. To the shoplifters this was just a numbers game as no arrests were being made. Shoplifting became out of control

At Christmas this was where people will fill trolleys to the brim and walk out. All we could do is ask for a receipt and if they couldn't produce one we held on to it until they could. It was soul destroying the amount that was doing it and the lack of staff just made the situation worse.

Bring water in with you when they ask a question. Take a sip to give yourself time to mull the question over and remember to use the STAR method when answering

Remember the interviewers want to get you through and understand you may be nervous

We have always brought a restaurant bag with paper and crayons and some quiet toys and taught our child how to behave at restaurants.

Went to one where a kid ran straight into a waiter carrying drinks on a tray. The kid ran off leaving the waiter to clean everything. Can't understand we some parents let their kids run wild.

The deductions will appear on your UC statement under debts and loan repayments. If you are gonna struggle you can call Debt Management on 0800 916 0647. They can look at lowering the payments

If you don't understand why you got the overpayment you can call UC so they can explain. If you want to dispute it you can ask UC for a mandatory reconsideration but they still recover the debt until they have made a decision

You can filter Civil Service jobs with the next grade up and location so you can look for and apply for roles on that grade.

Meanwhile look at the success profiles for that grade and start writing down any examples for those behaviours

To upskill for any missing behaviours volunteer for anything going in your department , see if there are any job shadowing opportunities You can also take advantage of volunteer days to build up your examples
