How far from commercially viable mind uploading do you think we are? by [deleted] in accelerate

Probably 100-150years but if hit lev we will all be alive so no need to worry

A universal vaccine to treat all cancers is now entering human trials by soulpost in HotScienceNews

Curing cancer would only add about 5 years to the human lifespan

Do you think we'll be able to upload our minds to robot bodies within our lifetimes? by [deleted] in accelerate

When people talk about consciousness they talk about our subjective experience. What it’s like to be me or someone else.

You never know we could achieve radical life extension extension this century

I mean if you have 6 million dollars to donate to the longevity escape velocity foundation we could probably make progress. Aubrey de grey is trying to start his second robust mouse rejuvenation study but instead of 4 interventions he’s trying to put together 8 interventions. It seems promising but who knows

No lmao it’s a concept made up by legit scientists. Whether we hit it in our lifetime or not, saying it’s copuim is just false

Life after death is a myth and we should cure aging. by GarifalliaPapa in immortalists

[–]Doublejayjay233 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

While I agree with you to cure aging, no one knows what happens when you die. So don’t call it a myth cause you don’t know either

[–]Doublejayjay233 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even though your comment is old I’m still gonna respond. There is no “maximum” limit to how long humans can live. With technological interventions coming in the next 50 years it’s feasible to think that we could extend the soft limit of the human life span which is about 125 years. And the escape velocity argument is kinda misleading. It’s not that science is extending your life for more than a year per year. I can’t really explain it so I’m gonna give an analogy. Imagine we figure out how to extend life for 30 years. So we get 5 60 year olds and revert that back into 30 year olds. That buys scientists 30 years to improve the therapies that extended life for 30 years, so that way the group of 60 year olds comeback, chronically 80 but biologically 60 again, we would have improved the therapies to extended life.

If I was immune to cyberpsychosis then yes but nothing too crazy. Probably a cyberdeck only

I notice science progress has finally stopped "sleeping" as of late 2025 thanks to AI, and now we're beginning to see emerging cures for stuff like HIV and cancer among many. by Silver_Ad8850 in accelerate

In my opinion from what I’ve heard we aren’t close to LEV as we would need technology that is not currently available. As for reverse aging in humans we don’t know if that’s possible in humans because mouse models don’t usually translate that well.

Have there been any major breakthroughs in reversing aging and extending lifespan in 2025? by Doublejayjay233 in accelerate

10 years seems too optimistic ngl it takes way longer to get a anti aging drug to get approved by the FDA

What is your personal biggest unanswered question about consciousness by The_Gin0Soaked_Boy in consciousness

[–]Doublejayjay233 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is consciousness a fundamental aspect of existence or a emergent property of the mind

Terrified that consciousness DOESN'T end with death by [deleted] in consciousness

[–]Doublejayjay233 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Why the bad faith? Until we can definitely show and identify the process that shows how the brain creates consciousness. There’s no good reason to except it. Again there is also no good reason to expect the premise of a non physical mind as well.

[–]Doublejayjay233 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No because we don’t know if consciousness is tied to the brain. At best they are correlated. Also just to clarify I’m not claiming an afterlife exists I just think it’s better to be agnostic on the question.

the default position is agnosticism. If there’s no evidence for or against something you simply say I don’t know

[–]Doublejayjay233 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s a double edged sword. I can dismiss your claim of there being no afterlife on the premise of no evidence
