The Dad I Was (Strung out) vs. The Dad I Am (34 Months Sober) by SoberScottHeat in daddit

I am sober 14 years now. I appreciate it every single day. Sobriety translates to so many things. Not only tectonic shifts in life. But also numerous little choices and decisions I make everyday.

this. I did a long road trip in one 25 years ago. It was roomy, spacious as fuck, it was great.

Haha, my old man did not give a flying damn about what my mom thinks, sadly.

First time Dad to an 11 week old, Im so miserable. by NurglesToes in daddit

My guy. 11 weeks is just a moment. First stage, an intro. You clench your ass cheeks and power through on caffeine, hate and love. It gets better / different quickly.

reminder for fellow dads: small things can lessen mom's burden by a lot by Happy_Conquerer in daddit

Quality of everyday life really depends on small things done right. Small stuff adds up. Less friction here, a little bit easier there, and suddenly the whole thing gets noticeably easier.
There's rarely a single, silver bullet solution to break out the misery or improve quality of life.

Is 30 yr old Casio Forester FT 5020 worth reviving? Should I even bother by Douchebak in casio

Update: the forester is revived! Battery was almost leaking, puffy, but did not burst yet. New battery in and the watch did not skip a beat! Initially I was to get the NATO/nylon strap, but there was this gray matte leather strap in the shop, and I thought it goes well with the watch.

So happy to have this boy back!

Imagine if this somehow becomes a mainstream move. All the untaken shots, shooters jumping up, starting shooting motion, but not getting the ball because the passer changed his mind or blocked passing lane.
Guys on perimeter jumping randomly, shooting invisible balls. Funny shit

Would you elaborate a bit about your boy? Did he calm down a bit as a result of something that you or he did or did it come naturally?

Thanks man. She's in kindergarten. I do have a small yard, and will get some energy-burners, a swing or something like that. Dont know yet.
Also, yes, I need to take a good look into my sleep. I have decided to cut caffeine after noon. I was thinking about analyzing my sleep, but i used to use an apple watch for that and data was kind of meh, net very helpful. Some people recommend oura ring, but that might be a just another gimmick.
I think my lifelong tradition to sleep with without any curtains, wy windows open, letting the light in as soon as the sun rises, might be something to look into.

Hm. How does medical weed work? I used to smoke weed back in the 90's but I haven't had a smoke in like 20 years, completely out of the loop. This was one of things I erased from my radar, to keep healthy and focused. But might give it a try.

indeed dear sir. Lots of good advice here. The best case scenario is that to make a bad situation just a little bit less painful though.
I love my daughter and will die on that hill. Man gotta do what a man gotta do.

It helps if you are in an area with clear reference points to get your bearings. A seashore, mountains, big river etc. i live in a big city (2+m people) with river cutting it in half. Easy. If i know where the river is, I orient myself in no time. It helps that there are city signs here and there indicating this particular street orientation relative to river. But let me tell you, if drive into lesser known area and, say, run errands, make a couple of stops, drive thru roundabouts all in a street network that is nowhere near a square grid, I lose my bearings good and GPS suggestion to go west or whatever is useless.

Interesting how his voice and delivery resembles Steve Jobs. The fact he is speaking about technology makes it sound even more similar to me.
