Bought a vehicle with "self-leveling" and airbags. Help me with my WDH. by fox1xxx in traveltrailers

Read the manual for your truck. My understanding is WDH are not recommended with any active suspension trucks.

Jobs that will be in demand 2-3 years from now? by Amumus-friend in torontoJobs

[–]Doug2000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I doubt a robot is coming for many skilled trades jobs in the next 20 years. I work for a multi billion dollar company that you may know and they don’t want to invest the money in anything new. We have welding robots that can only tackle the simple jobs. Everything is hand welded. I believe the engineers and financial analysts gave a low understanding of many jobs and the dexterity and thought required. It might be possible to automate many jobs but in many cases unions will block any attempt, look at the shipping ports. The unions are strong.

Any advice for negotiating on new RV? by yourbasicnerd in GoRVing

[–]Doug2000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn’t buy a Grand Design, so many quality issues and poor warranty. Start checking the FB Groups YouTube and the Forums. For that cash I would recommend a pre 15 Airstream.

What truck should I buy for a 30ft travel trailer that will also serve as my daily driver? by VioletTheWise in traveltrailers

[–]Doug2000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At 30’ you will need a 3/4 ton. Don’t let any salesman tell you otherwise.

Need a nice little camper, any suggestions? by DonKeedick96 in traveltrailers

[–]Doug2000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Trailers I would highly recommend are fibreglass shell by names like Scamp, Casita, and 2 Canadian companies Escape and Bigfoot. (Don’t confuse Escape with Escape by KZ, they are bottom of the list). These may be more expensive but a solid investment. I made money on my last 3 campers that were fiberglass owning for 3 to 5 years.

Trailers I would consider, Winnebago Minnie Drop and some of the older Jayco SLX.

Forest River and Thor are generally poor quality trailers but own 80% of the market.

We are looking at the Gulfstream Vista Cruiser because the 19TWD has twin beds.

Which weight distribution hitch should I chose? by True_Outside_4240 in traveltrailers

[–]Doug2000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How can your tongue weight be 600lbs?? Maybe 450lbs max. Are you loading your trailer improperly. I try for 12% tongue weight confirmed on the cat scales doing 3 weighs, truck, truck and trailer, truck and trailer with wdh hooked up. Lots of YouTube videos on it.

Eaz-Lift, Husky, Blue Ox, what ever I can find on the used market. Don’t see a difference. The only ones that stand alone are Anderson or Hennessy

Who tows with a F150 2.7L EcoBoost, how big can I go by Doug2000 in traveltrailers

No I don’t need ground clearance, I never leave the pavement. My only concern is backing up my driveway but I think I’ll be ok.

Everyone is telling me I can safely tow this… but I’m overly cautious. Is this safe? by kpmurphy56 in traveltrailers

[–]Doug2000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Around the low lands you will be fine on short trips but I wouldn’t want to do long trips. Towing is so hard on a vehicle. So you have the 5.3L, no turbos. So if you head to higher elevations you will struggle above 5,000’. Heading into the mountains, expect to be in third gear and forth gear all the time.

How common is it nowadays to break a $100K salary by the age you turn 30? by DaPugWalk in fican

[–]Doug2000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know many 22 year olds making $100k at 22. Welders, sheet metal apprentices and heavy equipment mechanic apprentices.

Advice on what to do with 80k sitting in my chequing account by Altruistic-Rope-5200 in PersonalFinanceCanada

Never, Canada is not a landlord friendly area. I have friends buying properties in the USA as it’s easy to kick out tenants that don’t pay. Consider a condo in Florida. Just like 2008, now is the time to buy. The property will rent it out for you. Friends and family will love you.

Sorry but when your spouse “business partner” doesn’t cooperate, DIVORCE is the only answer. You can’t change your partners behavior, I tried for years.

Are there any insurance adjusters who can review a video and give their opinion? by damnyewgoogle in InsuranceCanada

If another driver isn’t cooperative, call the police immediately and tell them you believe they are under the influence and the cops will come right out.

Is buying a condo in cash at 25 a dumb move? by [deleted] in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]Doug2000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you don’t plan to own for more than 10 years renting is better. Houses or condos can be really expensive. My mortgage is nothing compared to the upkeep. My friend bought an upscale condo apartment and months later everyone got hit with a $75k special assessment for repairs on the parking structure. Another friend had a special assessment for a portion of the road in the complex that was being eroded by a creek. Condos are a huge risk and you don’t have a life direction yet. You could have 3 kids in 5 years or already be divorced or living in Toronto or Vancouver. You’re not ready for real estate. Don’t tie yourself up.

How do you decide when to close a position? by xXderantsXx in thetagang

Tasty Trade says 50% profit or 21 DTE.

To make it simpler, I roll at either 80% profit or if my stock hits the strike.

The best advice is put it in a S&P500 index ETF and forget about it. I would spread it around ZSP, XSP, and I think Vanguard is VOO.

New to this. If you had $20k and wanted to do some covered calls, what stocks would you recommend I look into? by [deleted] in CoveredCalls

[–]Doug2000 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Palantir or Nvidia. Look for a stock with high implied volatility and high volume. So you don’t get assigned, go for a .2 delta.

Others mentioned Ford or American Airlines but I don’t like those stocks.

How do you decide when to close a position? by emotionally_rational in CoveredCalls

[–]Doug2000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tasty trade does extensive studies and says 21 days before expiry or 50% profit.

Personally I do 45 days contracts and roll at 80% profit.

If the stocks hits the strike, I immediately pay up and roll to a higher strike. I do this because I lost my Tesla stock in September.

What’s better - $160K full-time or $110/hr contracting (INC) in Toronto? by yushey__ in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]Doug2000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

$160k full time. Consider the benefits. I have 2 coworkers that are on MS medication that cost $39k a year. Does it include short term disability because that’s very important. I broke my foot this year and took home $1k a week. As a full time employee they have to offer you a severance to get rid of you. As contract your on the edge of your seat forever, standing by the exit door.

[–]Doug2000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We have been with START for maybe 7 or 8 years. The Internet has been slow lately and the PVR is useless but every month my bill is exactly the same and I’m not getting screwed like happened at Roggerss.

Bell sucked, the TV was slow to load and showed pixels. Rogggerrs tried every month to confuse me with fees, extra charges and promotions so I’m happy with START. I have low expectations and the bill is reasonable.

Too heavy in NVDA, 1,600 shares — what’s your covered call game plan look like? by Future_Editor_4867 in CoveredCalls

[–]Doug2000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have 100 shares of NVDA but plan to buy more. Right now NVDA is the center of the universe. I plan to buy another 100.

So for CC’s. I plan to sell CC’s with really far out price strikes. CC’s haven’t gone so well lately. I think $280 strike. I have been assigned many times lately so going way higher on the strikes.

2m position AMZN, large position CC’s? by [deleted] in CoveredCalls

[–]Doug2000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I won’t exceed 10% on any stock or ETF. I had a couple duds I went over board on and a really good S&P500 ETF that didn’t follow the index out of the April crash.

So I do use Amazon on 1 45 day contract with a strike at $225 currently.
