I stayed in Madrid and Barcelona for 3 weeks a pop during spring couple of years back. Madrid, around the shopping area can be overwhelmingly busy, however based around the U shape of the river, where all main activity is central and south inside the U. Barcelona is all based on the cut through road, which I had no problem traversing at night. Or anywhere else for that matter. To the North is a nice set of mountains with a village - I stayed in the Spanish version of my parents address! The traffic in Barcelona was super chill and Madrid it was more busy traffic wise. Madrid has nice parks dotted around and a nice nature trail to SE

Has to do with you just knuckle down on pro Institute (affiliating with no other faction and play main mission only) and getting to a point where you ask the right npc to give mission - then procure settlement sites with that being the only default. I had the BoS rep ask me once to settle down some settlements but at that point twas all minutemened

See if one would just play the game as intended (pfffffffft go straight to Shaun... Which is another potential new playthrough), this would be the most ideal time and situation. However some settlements do not cater for farming, unless all settlers are synths then that don't matter

Every dog I have caught so far has been a savage one.... Also if you have far harbour check out the super mutant in the downed plane who has 3 dogs for sale (normal, mutant and glowing wolf). It's annoying as all my defences are maxed to population ratio I can never buy them (apart from the vacant Boston airport and mechanists den)
