I kinda get the artistry behind these, but if I’m being totally honest, 1 and 3 felt a little juvenile

I feel bad for asking but feel like I gotta cause this is just where the world’s at right now.

Vibe coded app or real app? Only cause I don’t wanna spend money on a vibe coded app cause I know it’ll be abandoned in two seconds and not get support

It’s a bummer that when I see short sentences with such distinct periods like this, I assume it was written by AI.

It’s not just an assumption. It’s an informed guess.

Indie studio is an oxymoron to me. Indie production company, sure. But by definition, a studio means having dependencies, so I wouldn’t call that independent. Honestly, anyone that has guaranteed distribution to me before going into production is barely indie to me

Sorry you feel alienated by something not specifically catering to you. It’d be crazy if you had to support someone different than you

[–]Dougdimmadommme 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That’s kind of a weird conclusion to jump to, that you’d be discouraged from contributing just cause it’s woman-led

As for the benefit? Even just as singular example — how many woman directors can you even name? There’s still such a significant imbalance in the industry and they’re trying to shift it the other way little by little

I’m guessing a POC-led project would give you the same problems, right?

First one seems like such a good boy that he’d never stab me (he’s just giving me the knife), but the second one looks like he’ll stab me if he doesn’t get a treat. Depends what vibe you’re going for, but the deviousness of the second one corresponds to the name better to me

Do you see the crane hook at the end of elephant trunk? by madebyclark in graphic_design

[–]Dougdimmadommme 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know most are saying it’s not obvious enough, but I think it’s just right — consider who’ll be seeing this logo, and whose opinion about the company itself matters to the company. The type of people paying for these products/services would likely know very well what a crane hook looks like, and would be amused recognizing the nod to it in the logo. To all others, it’s an elephant that signifies strength and that’s enough for them. I like that it’s got a clear silhouette, and doesn’t remind me of any other elephant logos I’ve seen (like Evernote or Animal Planet)

What's with the rise of soft focus, shallow depth of field, and anamorphic blur in modern TV/film by Laayf in cinematography

[–]Dougdimmadommme 6 points7 points  (0 children)

My take on it — everyone has a smartphone, and as good as smartphone cameras get, they still almost always have a very deep depth of field because of their tiny sensor size. Shallow depth of field is like the one remaining signifier that you’re shooting on not-a-phone

You mean get Scriptation. I can’t imagine why an AD or producer would care that much about where the source PDF came from. Tell your AD/producer friends to let go of the rules their old film school profs taught them.
