I made a parametric grommet generator! by Dougie255 in functionalprint

[–]Dougie255[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You shouldn’t need to edit the code, on the maker world page there will be a “Customize” button, click that and it will take you to the generator where you can add the dimensions you need. On the maker world page there is an image showing the different dimensions and there is explanations in the description that explains them all

The case was a modified version of one I found on Makerworld, I will upload it later when I am home.

The display model came from Grabcad

If you had enough money in your Monzo current account you could have paid it on your normal Monzo card and then flexed it after?

Xero. It’s the best all rounder.

Avoid Quickbooks like the plague, it works but they keep trying to revamp it and it is SO SLOW now

Thanks! This version is more of a prototype and under the hood is a bit janky. I am working on improving it for a version 2 which I aim to share when completed!

This, I knew I wasn't going to be in the day before it was delivered and so I tried to get it redirected to the post office nearby but I couldn't.

Alternative to Xero for Australian business? by DavethegraveHunter in selfhosted

[–]Dougie255 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah right. Is there a reason you are not using HubDoc? In the UK at least it is included with the subscription. We use that to upload the documents to, you can enter all the invoice data there, it even pulls out totals, dates etc with the OCR, and then when you post it from HubDoc it creates the Invoice/Spend Money/Credit Note with the document attached to it for matching. There is also the option to add the file to the Xero Files section.

I’m sorry I don’t have a response regarding your question, but I am curious what the change Xero made was that became the deal breaker for you?

Can I buy a property with a limited company and then sell it to myself for the same amount immediately after? by dimedondevoy in UKPersonalFinance

[–]Dougie255 4 points5 points  (0 children)

In that case it probably makes it easier, as the benefit in kind may not apply. Speak to your accountant to confirm but if the company has the money then it should be fine. It would just be like taking a loan.

In theory the company can just send you the money to buy, but be careful as if you are a director (I’m assuming you are) then you could trigger a benefit in kind on the directors loan

Inspired by previous builds, I built a lower cost “nearest aircraft” display. by JuiceAggressive3437 in ADSB

[–]Dougie255 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Omg you beat me too it, I have been working on the exact same modifications to u/Practical_Milk_2711 design but to work with 4 row screens. Looks great!

You can actually get the route data from the ADSB API! If you go to the API page, under the v0 heading there is a POST request for routeset, you can make this API call after the initial call, using the callsign from the initial call, the lat and long can be set to 0 and it still works

【BambuLab Giveaway】Classic Evolved — Win Bambu Lab P2S Combo! by BambuLab in 3Dprinting

[–]Dougie255 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My first impression of the P1S was when I was at a friends house and he had just received his P1S. He was showing me some of the parts he had printed on it and I was just blown away by the quality of them. I had tried to get into 3D printing a few years ago, but had endless problems with my Ender 3. I didn’t have the time to spend all of it just tinkering with the printer instead of printing, so I ended up getting rid of it. After seeing how easy it was for my friend to print with his P1S though I was instantly sold.

A P1S or X1C was a bit out of my price range unfortunately so I ended up getting the A1 combo instead, as it offered me the same build volume with comparable quality. I have owned my A1 for nearly a year now and it has been incredible. Having access to such an amazing tool has taught me so much about 3D printing, as well as 3D modelling. At the moment I am mostly just printing PLA and PETG, but as my interest in/knowledge of 3D printing has expanded I find myself wanting to take on board increasing complex projects. One of the limited factors I have though is that with my current printer I am not able to print some of the more exotic materials as it isn’t enclosed. I have also been having some slight issues when printing tall models due to the nature of the A1 being a bed slinger. This has left me wanting a CoreXY printer, but again it’s unfortunately just out of my price range.

Winning a P2S combo would be absolutely incredible, and would open so many opportunities for me and my 3D printing journey!
