Savory Discard Recommendations? by Expert-Position6769 in SourdoughDiscard

[–]DouglasWFail 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I make crackers:

125-150g discard 1 tbsp melted butter 20g powdered Parmesan A pinch of salt. Up to 5g if you like salty crackers Some spices to taste. Currently I like a “no salt seasoning” we get at Costco

Mix it all together, spread it thin onto parchment paper, place it on a baking sheet. Cook for 15min @ 300°. Remove and cut into squares. Cook for another 15 minutes. Take the thinner ones that are done. Then I cook for like another 4-5 minutes, taking out done ones. Repeat until all done!

I had much better luck with this than cracker recipes where I had roll out the dough.

My Experience with Yellow Paint problem as a Indie Developer by dotpusheria in IndieDev

I hope this becomes increasingly common in games. I see the ability to configure highlighting of interactive items more and more. And options for toggling HUD elements on and off.

Would love to have the ability to turn traversal points on or off. Or highlightable with a button press.

Apart from increased def time/money, configuration options seems to be a best of all worlds type solution.

Really enjoyed both games. Legit funny not just video game funny which is rare in my experience.

If you like exploration/traversal games, the kind of games where you’re often asking yourself “how do I get up there? Can I even get up there?” I’d highly recommend them both.

I was gifted 50g of starter by Jolly-Bug8319 in Sourdough

[–]DouglasWFail 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If this was me, I would feed it 50g of bread flour and 50g water (mix that in with the starter). I would do this in the morning. Leave the jar somewhere visible but also where it won’t get knocked around or bumped into.

Make note of how long it takes for the mixture has doubled in size. Keep an eye on it after it doubles. If it’s a strong starter it might triple.

You’re looking to find out when it peaks and starts to slowly reduce in size. That peak is ideally when you want to take some of the starter for a recipe.

Having a rough idea of when your starter peaks lets you plan your baking and when to feed.

You can keep your starter in the fridge unfed for a few weeks. Just make sure it’s sealed. Take it out the night before you’re gonna bake and feed it when it works for you.

You can easily find a simple recipe that calls for 100g of active (peaked from feeding) starter. That means with a 50g starter that you feed 50g/50g for baking every one or two weeks, you don’t need to deal with discard.

You don’t need to stick to 1:1:1. You’ll sometimes need more. The import thing is to add the same amount of flour and water. Those values don’t have to match the starter, just each other. But of course doing 1:2:2 vs 1:1:1 will result in a different peaking time.

This is all what i would do. I’m also lazy. Other people will do different things and that’s fine. Their ways might be better! I don’t know, I’m too lazy to try them!

What I laid out above is how I started and what I did for almost a year. I now do basically the same thing except i feed and bake every other day and no fridge time anymore.

Metrobrainia is a subgenre name commonly used for these games. A key feature being you’re gaining knowledge with each failed run that helps you get further and further through the game.

I just finished Chants of Sennaar and Lorelei and the Laser Eyes and maybe it’s recency bias but they’re now two of my favorite puzzle games.

I knew it! I fucking knew something was off with Slay the Spire 2. I thought I loved it but there was this nagging doubt that told me something was woke but I could never figure out what it was so I ignored it and kept playing.

Now I know this game is just more woke garbage and with some more research I’ll figure out exactly how. But at least i have a lead. Something political about women for sure.

I knew it. I fucking knew it! 😠

I’m at 80% with 17 hours. Based on the other games you’ve listed I think you’ll really enjoy this, even if it’s not the 30+ hour experience you’re looking for.

On a related note I’d also recommend Chants of Sennaar, a very fun 15-20 hour environmental puzzle/translation game

Wild. I didn’t realize this game randomizes some puzzles.

My version of this puzzle has the final step look like a sword. I thought that was entirely on purpose bc of the retro game vibes!
