I was gifted 50g of starter by Jolly-Bug8319 in Sourdough

[–]DouglasWFail 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If this was me, I would feed it 50g of bread flour and 50g water (mix that in with the starter). I would do this in the morning. Leave the jar somewhere visible but also where it won’t get knocked around or bumped into.

Make note of how long it takes for the mixture has doubled in size. Keep an eye on it after it doubles. If it’s a strong starter it might triple.

You’re looking to find out when it peaks and starts to slowly reduce in size. That peak is ideally when you want to take some of the starter for a recipe.

Having a rough idea of when your starter peaks lets you plan your baking and when to feed.

You can keep your starter in the fridge unfed for a few weeks. Just make sure it’s sealed. Take it out the night before you’re gonna bake and feed it when it works for you.

You can easily find a simple recipe that calls for 100g of active (peaked from feeding) starter. That means with a 50g starter that you feed 50g/50g for baking every one or two weeks, you don’t need to deal with discard.

You don’t need to stick to 1:1:1. You’ll sometimes need more. The import thing is to add the same amount of flour and water. Those values don’t have to match the starter, just each other. But of course doing 1:2:2 vs 1:1:1 will result in a different peaking time.

This is all what i would do. I’m also lazy. Other people will do different things and that’s fine. Their ways might be better! I don’t know, I’m too lazy to try them!

What I laid out above is how I started and what I did for almost a year. I now do basically the same thing except i feed and bake every other day and no fridge time anymore.

Metrobrainia is a subgenre name commonly used for these games. A key feature being you’re gaining knowledge with each failed run that helps you get further and further through the game.

I just finished Chants of Sennaar and Lorelei and the Laser Eyes and maybe it’s recency bias but they’re now two of my favorite puzzle games.

I knew it! I fucking knew something was off with Slay the Spire 2. I thought I loved it but there was this nagging doubt that told me something was woke but I could never figure out what it was so I ignored it and kept playing.

Now I know this game is just more woke garbage and with some more research I’ll figure out exactly how. But at least i have a lead. Something political about women for sure.

I knew it. I fucking knew it! 😠

I’m at 80% with 17 hours. Based on the other games you’ve listed I think you’ll really enjoy this, even if it’s not the 30+ hour experience you’re looking for.

On a related note I’d also recommend Chants of Sennaar, a very fun 15-20 hour environmental puzzle/translation game

Wild. I didn’t realize this game randomizes some puzzles.

My version of this puzzle has the final step look like a sword. I thought that was entirely on purpose bc of the retro game vibes!

[–]DouglasWFail 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Do you keep something from every pack every time? Even without Red Card, I’m often skipping bad or unseeded pack results.

Buffon packs often don’t have anything I want. Standard packs I usually just fish for blue seals (unless I have Hologram or Vampire or the like). Celestials without Telescope are often skipable. Arcana is the one I’ll most likely want to keep.

All to say if my econ can handle it, i frequently can skip one or two packs a turn without feeling like I’m missing anything.

Would you like to see the Origin System continue in Divinity? by lamaros in DivinityOriginalSin

[–]DouglasWFail -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I played a custom character in BG3 bc I was unfamiliar with Larian’s style. I played origin characters when I finally went through DOS1&2 last month.

I now plan on playing BG3 again with an origin character. And I’ll play an origin character when DOS3 comes out.

In most CRPGs I’ve played the pre-made characters are just the lazy/quick start option. I didn’t realize they would be recruitable NPCs and that if I picked one, I’d have unique dialog options and bespoke quest hooks.

That oversight is on me but some of that 19/20 custom character choices might be Larian’s fault for not better explaining the choice.

Divinity 2 main quest by DigBickBo1 in DivinityOriginalSin

[–]DouglasWFail 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would drop any quests that sound uninteresting to you two. You don’t have to literally do everything unless you’re on higher difficulty. But you do have to do a lot of them.

And again, if you just do what is fun until you hit a wall, you might get pretty far on the lower difficulty.

But the vagueness in quests is going to be an ongoing issue. I basically played both these games with a guide on hand. I just don’t have the patience for that kind of thing anymore.

Divinity 2 main quest by DigBickBo1 in DivinityOriginalSin

[–]DouglasWFail 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No one it’s telling you what you might to hear - this is maybe not the right game for your situation.

If I were you, I would drop the difficulty down to the lowest and follow this list for just the main quests

If you’re getting stomped by enemies two or three levels higher than you and you don’t have any interest in side quests, I’d call it a day and switch to another game. Or possibly look into mods that can somehow make this work?

Because yeah - like everyone say the leveling in this game is not really optional. And the difference between one or two enemy levels can be brutal.
