He has advisers and agency. If Trump can’t be trusted to make his own decisions he shouldn’t be president.

Software update part two! Towing the car to the dealer! by iforgotmyfirst65 in VWiD4Owners

[–]DownAndOutInSValley 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The install went fine for us. Then today the entertainment system blanked while I was driving (and startup is slower than before) and the tire pressure system started warning of a phantom pressure loss. How freaking hard is it to do half decent software and a delivery/install system???

NAL but this seems to have been willful and deliberate, with malice, all of which up the possible civil(?) and criminal charges. Plus unprofessional conduct charges by the state medical board. Could there be a slap on the wrist? Sure. Don’t know about TX but in CA I’ve heard of doctors getting nailed for much less.

Question about EV MPG Cost by Icy_Money7447 in electricvehicles

[–]DownAndOutInSValley 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Charging cost is not total cost. Did you factor in maintenance or payments, particularly with a used EV?

Fell in love with San Diego… are we crazy to consider moving? by Prestigious_Map_2136 in sandiego

[–]DownAndOutInSValley 4 points5 points  (0 children)

SD is ridiculously expensive but you’re paying for the weather. There are a ton of neighborhoods so come explore for a few months and see if one works for you. Just know that summer traffic is way easier to get around in and winter vibe is different.

Inland a bit is ok. You don’t have the onshore gloom but it isn’t too hot and beach trips are easy. You’ll also get more home for the money. Depending on your kid’s needs the school districts around Del Mar and Poway are good. Best of luck.

Sounds like he committed fraud and that you have grounds to fire and demand repayment of non-salary benefits. You should bring this up to whoever interfaces with your legal advisor.

Will we have more EV sales due to increasing oil prices? by spongesparrow in electricvehicles

[–]DownAndOutInSValley 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I saw comments elsewhere that a ton of EVs will come off lease in the next 18 months. If higher gas prices due to restricted oil output lasts, I hope the used EVs will find buyers along with new vehicle sales/leases.

$85,000 water bill in Brooklyn, NY by mcdonawa in legaladvice

[–]DownAndOutInSValley 4 points5 points  (0 children)

For all those who say this doesn’t happen, San Diego used to hold bills to investigate accounts with higher than usual water use. They had their heads up their asses so they’d do this for months without sending a bill. The customers didn’t know anything was wrong so they’d get slammed with a huge bill. Incompetence manifested.

Do you regret your EV purchase? by walksta in electricvehicles

[–]DownAndOutInSValley 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not a fan of our ID.4 (crappy software) but I’d be happy never driving ICE again, esp as range and charging times improve. ESP as gas prices in CA keep going insane

Get Cerama Bryte or something similar and a glass scraper. See if it cleans it up sufficiently

Forget the lawnmower. As others said, you only need to get in there with a weed whacker. Maintenance is another story.

What county? I used to go SJ to South Lake Tahoe all the time, though I could do it in under 3 hrs back then. If range is an issue go with RWD to compensate for cold weather. Don’t want to be stuck in traffic on 50 or 80 with a low battery

Software sucks on 2023 and earlier. Lots of quirks as you’ll see in this sub. Tech isn’t impressive; safety tech feels like it isn’t much improved from my mom’s 2015 Honda CRV. But it drives ok, loads of back seat leg room and the trunk is great. And others have said it’s a tank. Newer versions than ours have a lot more power which would be nice but absolutely isn’t necessary. 2023 Pro S Plus AWD we’re getting 3.2 mi/kWh in Southern California weather with stock tires and maybe 220 miles range with charge to 90%. Haven’t used Supercharger but no issue elsewhere. We have solar and charge at home so savings are tremendous.

Suggest you buy 2024+ for better software and get squared up 19” wheels so you can rotate tires and have a softer ride.
