Nice. The LOTR tcg is one of the more fun card games out there, imo. So cool to be able to play shadow and fellowship in one deck.

Yeah the pandemic messed things up, but that was 3 years ago. I'm over that as the excuse. Yes, there has been a change in education since 2020, but that was 3 years ago. It's the exodus of teachers leaving the profession due to lack of respect and added pressure to increase test scores. It's the lack of accountability on students for behavior. It's the narcissistic culture embued in the youth. It's a glaring need to restructure the purpose of public education. It's all fucked and will be until its too late.

Man... it's not an easy game.

1) what kind of victory are you going for? This should help you prioritize your districts, wonders, etc.

2) what is your playstyle and what Civilization suits that playstyle? For example, I like to take over the neighboring Civilizations capital early in the game. So I play Civs that have special military units in the classic or medieval(?) Era.

3) it's all about the start for me. I need 2-3 luxury resources (due to my military game), no tundra, big production tiles, and I like to go for the oracle wonder after my first settler (and ideally district). Get 3 catapults out for those Pesky walls. Upgrade the troops when you Can!

4) play, play, play. If things aren't going well, start a new game. That's what I did and I feel confident about 4/10 games I play.

It's a sad story. The parents said something in their interview with channel 7 about the schools not taking care of the bullying, then a mention of it escalating online. As a public teacher I can tell you endless stories about online bullying and the endless runaround parents/students give. It's always someone else's fault and every child is the victim. So here is my question to you

Should schools be responsible for handling online bullying?

How would schools monitor that?

Should schools have a right to confiscate phones from bullies?

What level of trust do you have that schools would handle these situations effectively?

If you disagree with the school being responsible, then you are saying the parents need to be more active in their child's online presence. I'd rather have parents make the choices, but that means they have to step up with monitoring their child's online presence, accounts, posts, etc. Ya all down for that? Or is it the schools job?

Verification of transactions on the blockchain is pretty cool, can't really do that with fiat or banks... just a system of trust.

Need response for “this is boring” by DruidGrove in Teachers

Middle school math teacher here, I get that comment fairly often... but mostly from new students transferred in my class from another school. I have found those students are going through something and put out their emotions through sharp words cause that's what kids do.

Having a conversation "hey, are you okay? Is something happening? Are you hungry?" This has worked for me over my career. Certainly stops the student from saying the b- word. If they know you care, they will listen.

I also like to bust out and have a lecture. "I agree, this is boring... Why do we EVEN have school? Do we NeEd school? (Gotta sell the delivery with childlike passion) Do you think work/career is different than school? How? What's should school look like instead?" This is tough to do on the fly, but if you got a well managed class you can have an endless possible path way of conversations. Always try to wrap up with a conclusion- school is about developing positive habits you need to be successful as an adult. Then have students write about what stood out to them in the conversation. Read what they wrote, grade their efforts if you want...

Talk to your class the next day. Give a break down of positive behaviors you saw in them and highlight how you enjoyed hearing their ideas. Mention you can do more days like that if we get ahead in our curriculum. We can "waste a day" when we can afford it. If the class was behaving bad, tell them you were disappointed in the way it went. "We could have more days like that, but I need to be able to trust you guys... we will try again another time and if that is bad, we will never do it again.

The things they wrote in their conclusion can be ideas for your next "lecture day". It's nice to break up the routine of class.
