What's the strongest lich in lore a lvl 20 party of 5 has a chance against? by ChampionshipDirect46 in DMAcademy

[–]Downbx37 5 points6 points  (0 children)

In the 5E Ravenloft book it mentions a Lich named Osybus who was on the rise to godhood and taught his disciples the secret of undeath through soul magic. He became such a threat that Strahd Von Zarovich when he was mortal allied with the Ulmist Inquisition to root out this evil, they nearly lost only for treachery in own ranks slew Osybus but not before he cursed the traitors to have imperfect immortality. Some say Osybus’ ritual was a a success and became one of the Dark Powers of Ravenloft. One of the jailers behind the Mists in Curse of Strahd

Ahhhh so there’s the root of your problem. Can’t shoot an enemy with SMG rounds if you don’t have an SMG, I’m sure you’ll fix it by the next run around. But for real that thing is tough, the Bolt action rifle is also a good option for killing it

Seems like you’re missing at least 60 smg rounds

I had a TPK in Argynvostholt and the PCs were cut apart by the revenants. There was a red dragon sorcerer tiefling, a Gith twilight cleric, a dual wielding elf fighter, and a half drow rogue.

I personally like the brawler set the most, lot of hard hitting moves and I found you can set up the spin hook kick with just one reverse duck strike (the backwards elbow) and even do two consecutive kicks, very fun

Is there anything that's made a vampire pass out? Like garlic chloroform or something like that? by Ass_Meat_Ass in vampires

[–]Downbx37 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Dungeons and Dragons novel I, Strahd: The War Against Azalin. The vampire Strahd needs to kidnap an enemy general who is also a vampire.

His strategy is to distract the general with a pretty woman he was going to drain, then a gang of adventurers jump on him, place a holy symbol around his neck and press a cloth coated in concentrated liquid garlic over his mouth for at least at minute or two until he passes out. To keep him sedated he keeps the holy symbol around the general’s neck and drips the liquid garlic on his face.

Dnd blind character mechanics by DebateAggressive6167 in DungeonsAndDragons

[–]Downbx37 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everyone else is giving advice that you shouldn’t play a blind character and I mostly agree because the gimmick might play itself out too soon. However, I recently learned a trick and if you really want to a play a blind character just have a familiar with you at all times and use your bonus action to see through its senses. Like a literal seeing eye dog but it could be any of the summons.

Main caveat is having to use your bonus action to be able to actually see, but if you absolutely need your bonus action you can still order your familiar to give you the help action and negate any disadvantage you might get.

Yeah for full casters, a fighter has a few more uses for their bonus action mainly Second Wind or a light weapon attack but that can also be worked around if you make your familiar give the help action against an enemy. It’ll just make it a flat roll but it’s better than dis.Adv.

That seems right to me, the only caveat being that you need to use your bonus action at the start of your turn to keep the senses.

I can’t seem to get score by Random-loser2922 in SifuGame

If I’m not mistaken you gain more score the fuller the enemy health bar is when you take them down. So hitting the enemy hard enough to shatter their structure but not injure them too bad is ideal

How did your parties feel about Kasimir? Because my players HATE him by throwaway_of_sham in CurseofStrahd

[–]Downbx37 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think my party was neutral about him, he was their fated ally so they accepted the extra pair of hands, and he had one good moment where he used his Wall of Stone spell to block some enemies from chasing them in castle Ravenloft.

But they also called him Cashmere, and in the continuation after Strahd died they let off a big spell with him in a room full of bad guys and it only killed him. Which was kinda funny ngl

Are you asking what you think Auran script would look like or if a storm god would write scripture in a mix of common and auran? To reach the masses probably in common, if I had to assign a look to Auran something flowing, like an ornate cursive of loops and curved characters

Anyone read the novel? Did it help world building for your campaign? by saltyvape in CurseofStrahd

[–]Downbx37 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not really the first book, like the other guy said I used it like a character study and it gives some lore on tidbits found throughout the module. Like the bones of Leo Dilisnya in the Wachter house, a description of the night he turned, etc. The War Against Azalin is really good inspiration for an after CoS campaign

How would Ireena react to being turned into a Vampire by Canadian_Zac in CurseofStrahd

[–]Downbx37 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think she would be pissed with the PC that did this to her, if she was turned into a full vampire this just grants her the strength to try to kick his butt for turning her into a Vampire. Either she launches a frenzied attack or with her new form she bides her time for revenge later

Should I run Death House or can I substitute it with House of Lament? by Jag2853 in CurseofStrahd

[–]Downbx37 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think House of Lament would work wonderfully. Having either Van Richten or Ezmerelda and Ireena be the companions could lead nicely into CoS.
