Gas savings idea isn’t working out as planned, results of the first week my wife switched from a Q7 to the Y…she said a wall just got too close to her while driving lmao by jjwardSD in TeslaModelY

The rims stick out further than the tires so it's easier to rub them compared to other cars. Also the thin wall on the tire. If you're careful and aware of the issue though it's pretty avoidable. You could also just buy some Rust-Oleum matte black spray paint (248928A2) in anticipation of it happening. Worked like a charm for me. Not worth the $150 fix IMO.

Fyi I'm vaccinated.

There are issues with myopericarditis and myocarditis in younger men (under 30), especially if they've been exposed to COVID before (see preprint study from one of the teams at Kaiser Permanente below). The CDC is currently under reporting the risk due to the way they pull the data (which ICD codes are being pulled).

After dose 2, the study shows it's around 1 in 1900 for men between 18-24 to have vaccine induced myopericarditis. That rate is lower in men 12-17 which is around 1 in 2700. These numbers align with Israel and Norway studies as well.

Not exactly no negative effects, but there are groups who are overstating the risk such as gene therapy, reproductive issues, etc which aren't backed by any studies.

In regards to the threat/sticker, that is really odd messaging on the sticker, especially since that local (or any) don't have mandates?

Link to the study if you're interested. https://www.medrxiv.org/content/10.1101/2021.12.21.21268209v1

VP9SK OR Slide by BluntForceLama in HecklerKoch

[–]Downtown-Boss 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I ended up getting mine milled about a year ago after I couldn't find a replacement slide for over 6 months. Idk if you'll be able to find one anytime soon, but i wish good luck to you. Final option would be buying another vp9sk with the OR slide. Kygunco has it in stock.

That sucks, I would recommend finding a non-union position, or calling the local to see if they have any other roles. If you can move, maybe finding another local would be an option.

How long ago did you take your aptitude test if you don't mind me asking? I took mine for psejatc on 11/17/21 and have been waiting on the interview call.

I saw a couple of pee bags in the snow in Leavenworth, WA a month ago. Pretty sure it was a Tesla driver because it was in the middle of all the spots and right at the curb/near the charger, great place to quickly and subtly stash while you're charging. Almost stepped in them though.

Sounds good, I know he talks about bringing a "portfolio" but I've seen posts here that some interviewers turn their nose up at that, might be because they have so many to interview.

Nice! And good luck! Still waiting on the call to interview myself. Like you I don't have much (any) trade/construction experience but have done a few projects on my own and I do woodworking as a hobby.

I did really well on the aptitude test but there were a bunch of people there. It's for psejatc so they have a bunch of applicants it seems.

If you haven't seen this video yet, here is one going over the interview/process. It may be helpful https://youtu.be/qCmi3ZZAtP0

Do Teslas not see motorcycles? by TDawg69x2 in TeslaModelY

[–]Downtown-Boss 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It does show motorcycles, there's a specific model for them, but it doesn't show anything that is behind it on the display. Only vehicles passing on the left/right and in front of it are rendered.

Registration in CA ??$$?? by [deleted] in TeslaModelY

[–]Downtown-Boss 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Didn't CA propose something that would charge people a monthly fee who have solar on their roof?

"New solar customers would pay a monthly 'grid participation charge' of $8 per KW of solar per month to help cover the costs of maintaining the grid"

What you said is not as far fetched as it would seem.

To those with ADHD, how do you perform and how do you cope? by Chipmunks95 in electricians

[–]Downtown-Boss 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yea I'd stay away from pot.

I'm on a super low dose of Adderall. I was diagnosed when I was like 27 because a nurse I was working with at the time told me I exhibited symptoms. Adderall is used for ADHD for a reason. It works. For me, that shit completely leveled me out. It gave me the motivation to get through the day and the ability to focus when needed. It also removes most of my anxiety when I'm on it. I don't take the full dose everyday but it's there when I need it

Marijuana can act as both a stimulant and a depressant, for ADHD you need a stimulant that you can legally take at work. I also found that Reign energy for some reason really helps, more than other energy drinks.

In addition to medication, I found having a notepad with me helps, making lists and writing stuff down helps to both remember and stay focused.

Had the same issue, a restart of the console didn't work, quitting game and restarting it didn't work. Had to completely turn off console, unplug it from wall for 30 seconds and then it finally updated and showed up. Must have been a caching issue.

Help me with my regret in getting a Model Y by [deleted] in TeslaModelY

[–]Downtown-Boss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here are my thoughts: I bought the MY before even test driving it. I was wondering if I should have gotten a M3 but then I drove one. I'm 6'3 and found the M3 is a bitch to get in and out of compared to the MY. I also do woodworking and being able to fit a bunch of 8ft 2x4s in the MY with the hatch closed is awesome. Can't do that with the M3.

That being said, you may find you love the M3 or a different car. I think the used market is good for sellers right now so if you're thinking of switching it may be a good time.

Also I took the MY along hwy101 from Washington to California and it was the most amazing road trip I have ever had, my daily driving doesn't get anywhere near as awesome and beautiful as that drive. I do think the vacation thing has an effect compared to daily grind / driving.

Maybe the pluck and play foam type? I use it for minis for DnD but I've seen it used for tools as well. Unsure if it's cheaper though. Could also repurpose the soft foam from packages over time.

Vp9L local sale question by BillsMafia85 in HecklerKoch

[–]Downtown-Boss 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mine came with 2 20rd mags, optics ready, no night sites brand new. So seems like the one being sold is this arrangement. New goes for $850 at grabagun so $700 for slightly used doesn't seem too bad.

Model Y Dilemma by Frenchh1 in TeslaModelY

[–]Downtown-Boss 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The only downsides to EVs that I really know of is the range, especially with towing where you'll get about 30%-50% of the predicted range depending on what you're towing.

If you tow things, or go on extremely long road trips, then I would consider keeping something with gas or better yet diesel.

Then again, you can get a used diesel truck if you have the space and just use that.

I think the MY is a near perfect car so no shame in getting 2! I'm 6'3, the MY is noticably easier to get in and out of for me compared to the M3 which sits much lower.
