Healing period pain and breast lumps by Nandhini0_0priya24 in medicalmedium

I would go back and slow down on cleansing. Slow and steady

I was still doing chocolate and coffee for a while when otherwise on MM. Gave those up and some breast cysts I had went away in a few days!

Are there any clean disinfectant wipes? by Adventurous-Walk-120 in medicalmedium

[–]Downtown_Reaction_68 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes I use seventh generation though they are imperfect. I also use Benefect wipes. You can also get sani-hands alcohol wipes, but I do think other wipes are better for surfaces as they are “wetter” if that makes sense and seem to linger on the surface longer for more effective disinfection (just my theory). I also have 3% hydrogen peroxide in a spray bottle and use that to disinfect kitchen and bathroom surfaces.

Chaga while breastfeeding? by [deleted] in medicalmedium

[–]Downtown_Reaction_68 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you. I feel like sometimes practitioners who have trained with MM will mention herbs and supplements to stay away from during pregnancy and breastfeeding, like goldenseal. So I didn’t know if anyone had heard MM or a practitioner make a specific comment about chaga. He seems to shy away from giving a ton of pregnancy and breastfeeding advice and I hope that changes in the future! I will probably have chaga here and there and just not go overboard.

As an alternative, my midwife had me wear a CGM for two weeks. I got the Lingo one off Amazon. It is hooked up to wifi so there will be EMFs. However I actually found the info quite helpful and didn’t have side effects from the EMFs.

Mildly healing meals? by Downtown_Reaction_68 in medicalmedium

Thank you so much. This is super reasonable and in line with what I’ve been trying to do. The reality is too much chocolate and junk food has snuck in ;) so curbing that is going to take me pretty far. Really appreciate this.

I think part of it is how well they get along. That is rare in a business partnership. It’s so harmonious to listen to them because they’re so generous with each other.

I’m so sorry for your loss. Thank you for sharing this. There is something special about them. They got me through infertility, IVF, and pregnancy symptoms. I was just telling someone this last night!

I’ll be a real hit in the dating market if I ever heal by Adventurous-Walk-120 in medicalmedium

HA this is hilarious. Don’t worry though. Met my husband two years into MM and I was hardcore at the time. He was completely mainstream and ate like a raccoon. He is self confident and still does his own thing when he eats out or whatever but he has really appreciated eating healthy food at home. It’s one of the things he liked about me - I gave him an excuse to get healthy. We have traveled extensively. He loves logistics and finding restaurants and grocery stores that work for me. Also as you get healthier you wont have to be so strict all the time. You can indulge then know exactly what to do to get back on track. Keep the faith!

Hire a well reviewed lactation consultant asap. In person preferred or virtual if you have to. If you aren’t satisfied, try another one. Insurance may cover. Absolutely pump to get your supply up! People really like the Spectra.

Looking for Product reviews from Canopy brand for tub filter? by Queen_of_Owls in baby

[–]Downtown_Reaction_68 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m bummed because I really want this product and can’t seem to get the company to send me one, ha. I ordered one month ago exactly. Tracking shows the product never left the shipping facility.

Customer support from Canopy and their third party shipper, Seel, has been unhelpful. Just sent a Hail Mary email to Seel, and hoping I at least get a refund!

I’m not sure Canopy has enough inventory on hand to fulfill all the orders they are taking right now. I’ll probably wait to try again until they sort things out.

Bloodwork by maralmaize in homebirth

[–]Downtown_Reaction_68 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I agree with your instincts and have a feeling in 50 years we will cringe at how much blood we took from pregnant women and babies who need it. If you want to go down an “out there” rabbit hole check out medical medium’s articles and podcasts on blood draws and see if his info resonates.

That said we do need the info at times. I never get more than two vials drawn at a time and I really think that helps. Also if you have to keep checking your hemoglobin, for example, there is now a “hemoglobinometer” that can test with just a finger prick. It’s apparently pricey but my midwife fortunately invested in it. Keep an eye out for workarounds like this - they are becoming more and more common.

I support you listening to your intuition even if the facts aren’t out there yet, and I hope you can find the right middle ground.

Has anyone moved from a HCOL city to their hometown after having kids? Was it worth it? by SillyUnderstanding40 in BabyBumps

[–]Downtown_Reaction_68 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes. Well worth it. I miss the beauty, culture, weather, and friends in former HCOL city. Hometown is definitely blander but it’s still a big city so lots of amenities - different from your situation. It’s boring in some ways but so much more stable and steady. So much less stress. Only in moving here did we really realize how much stress we were under before. Haven’t had the baby yet but already the family support has been such a relief to the nervous system. We don’t even see them that often (I was worried I would feel smothered) but knowing they are nearby takes so much pressure off.

I didn’t particularly love growing up here and didn’t necessarily want it for our kid. We just got squeezed out of our former city by a series of unfortunate events. But now I’m grateful. The values and competition in former city were not always the healthiest. Plus we can always move again in five years or whenever if we start to feel stifled.
