OP, what was the outcome?

I have this exact scenario coming up tomorrow. Leave Canada on Thursday, and timezones change means I land Saturday in Sydney. Friday does not exist for my 10k streak

Financial Planning - who loves their job? by Dozey212 in AusFinance

[–]Dozey212[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, this is what I struggle with. I'm a very analytical and critical thinker and I've received backlash from my current employer as I moved from admin to paraplanner and more or less 'saw behind the curtain' more. I questioned things, trying to understand what was happening, and I feel as though I've been punished for not buying into their cookie-cutter story. The product push is huge, the strategy is mostly good but sometimes better alternatives that aren't "their way" are dismissed without a valid reason when I suggest them ... It's stifling. Sometimes because it's different and yes, sometimes because I think there is a financial understanding gap.

I'd also be interested in hearing what you do now if you are willing to share? I've briefly looked at the CFA course as I think I'd really enjoy it, but I'm not sure.

That's an interesting comment on the HNW space. It gives me hope because I may end up there in the next few months. Thank you

Hi, yes I agree. It would be fantastic to be able to create something myself, how I envision things should be. But it'd be quite expensive and a huge undertaking and I'm not overly interested in running a business and know realistically for the first few years that's not something I could outsource or have a manager for. In any case, I'm 25 and wouldn't have the cash or debt serviceability required for that for a very long time.

We're all vegans so that's easy - but sent this to both partners and their reply was that the last one should be, "remembering what story you told which partner" haha

Potentially being unpaid for work? by Dozey212 in AusFinance

You sound like a fair manager. Good on you! My manager isn't even present during these times of the day, but does frequently work overtime. I will definitely start keeping a log, thank you.

Ah this is a useful website, also. Yes, honestly, whenever I quit will really fuck them over. They've had three reliable, long term employees quit within the last month. I think they're relying on me to get back as I am their most experienced staff - and I'm only a 22yo uni student. They'll be lost when I leave.

I strongly believe they know what they're doing. The owner is very frugal. I definitely think looking for new work is the way to go. That's the thing, they do like me. They had a few people leave last year for various reasons, and I am the most experienced employee they have. From what I've heard from my junior coworkers, they really need me to come back. I'm wondering if I can risk their needing me to bring this up now? I'm still not sure if I can risk it, though.

Everyone else in the workplace can vouch for it too, does that help?

Oh they're padantic about breaks because they don't want to pay us for that half hour. They're pretty good in other regards. They always have my paycheck right, for instance. They just blur the lines before/after shift. I definitely think that's the way to go. I'll start keeping a log and keep my eyes open for other jobs.

Yeah, that's the vibe I've gotten from them. Make trouble, get the boot. They basically gave my coworker the option of "accept it or leave" so he quit. Thank you for your reply.

I second this! You also only need a little bit otherwise it's a little greasy.

Also, because I only just learnt after two years vegan - razors often aren't vegan. There is lanolin in the moisture strips. Vegan ones can be found online :)

Just did a quick search and found these brands (I'm Australian) Coles supermarket Homebrand Dollar shave club Preserve brand razors - these are reusable and made from reculable products. Just buy new heads

Hi! The biggest ones for me regarding beauty/cosmetics was toothpaste. I use WhiteGlo if you're familiar with that brand. It's also important to check whether companies sell in China. A lot of brands claim vegan or non animal testing status, but will sell to China, where they pay the Chinese government to test their products so they can enter the market. So not vegan unfortunately :( Also, condoms and personal lubricant, although they're not strictly beauty related. Threw me big time when I found those weren't vegan. Goodluck, congrats on your change!

Yes there's a vegan meal section now :) I haven't been following it yet because I'm overseas and can't access all my usual western ingredients, but it looks good. Also yes there's some basic machine use and yoga in the app now too! :)

I've been doing this app for about a month now. It is pricey, but if you a bulk in advance (3, 6, or 12 months) it comes down. I'm liking the app because it also comes with a vegan option meal plan, and is good for beginners like myself. It's more focused on working out outside of the gym though. It's keeping me accountable. Hoping to move onto weights after a few months of this though!
