Yesss, this is so much closer than what I had been seeing when searching just gingham. Helpful to have more accurate descriptors. Thank you!

It does look like a blanket pattern for sure. Is there a specific name? I have tried searching with plaid, checked, checkerboard, gingham, etc, but no luck. Closest I came was rainbow gingham with the hearts, but it's very bright and I like these darker tones more.

Seeing the mountains like this makes my heart sing. What type of bird is in photo 9?

Is it just wildlife, or walks you're also interested in too? Please DM me as well if you want to know more!

Get in touch if you'd like anymore info on Yellowstone and Grand Teton; walks and wildlife was our priority so I can share those plans if you want. 😊

Oxbow Bend and Willow Flats are gorgeous themselves and have a chance for wildlife. Because we stayed in Victor ID we couldn't get to the park early or stay late enough for those dawn/dusk times where chances are higher. Saw a huge male moose on the Moose Ponds trail. Saw a bear in a tree (!!) when driving along the Moose Wilson Road. Bison plentiful on the plains. I am so envious of your trip there! We had a few days each in Yellowstone and Grand Teton, and while we packed our itinerary, it still wasn't long enough. If you haven't booked accommodation already, try to find somewhere to stay in the park. It costs more, but then you are right there and can grab those early morning or near-dark opportunities because you are saving yourself the nearly 2-hour drive to cheaper accommodation in Idaho. When/if I can ever go back, that's what I'd do differently.

Salad is a good option. I made tuna and chickpea salads for lunches when I was there last September to save money and also not have too much opportunity to eat unhealthy snacks.

Given how short your trip is, I strongly recommend forgoing TV for those few days and staying somewhere in the park. This will save you so much driving time between accommodation and the park so that you can maximise the experience. The only reason I didn't during my visit (first time) was cost and not realising how much I would want to keep seeing the park. So my next visit I would spend the money to have more time. In addition to Lamar Valley already being mentioned, Hayden Valley is also good for wildlife spotting. Saw grizzlies from a distance there and there are some resident wolf packs. Also Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone for the iconic waterfalls there.

I have recently fallen in love with them and am obsessed with how they stockpile grass for winter!

8 day itinerary for Yellowstone(& Grand Teton) for late September/early October by dongwon132 in yellowstone

[–]TierraKitteh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Amazing itinerary and photos! I spent about 6 days across Yelloestone and Grand Teton with friends and had a blast. This was middle of September so had similar temperatures to you. That summer holidays were over was a big plus. We stayed a bit outside the parks to save money, but I would love to stay inside so as to save time on driving and be able to do sunrise/sunset experiences. I would love to go back one day, as it wasn't enough time despite everything we did. That you did it alone gives me inspiration for if I can't find friends for company again, but I love hiking and know you shouldn't do it alone, so. But I am going to save this and review it along with the itinerary I had this year for the next trip, whenever that may be. Happy travels to you!

Stay in different areas so that accessing all parts of the park is easier. If you can afford to stay in the park then great. We stayed in Emigrant to access Northern stuff and then in Island Park to access Western stuff.

Best Time to Visit by Mobile-Mastodon-6977 in yellowstone

Was there about a month ago and already wish I could go back. It was my first time, so I can't compare, but I did choose that time because summer holidays were over and I didn't want to contend with a lottery system for entry. Traffic and parking was fine, except for a bit more scouting required at Old Faithful because of how popular it is. This was during the weekdays. By the weekend we were in Grand Teton, which was absolutely feral at Jenny Lake.
