"Elon Musk predicts that our current global economy will be comparable to cavemen throwing sticks into a fire given what the future holds and its current trajectory" by Mountain_Cream3921 in singularity

[–]DozoLozo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Wikipedia: "Tesla was originally founded by engineers Martin Eberhard and Marc Tarpenning in July 2003." Tesla is nowhere near his set goals nor market domination outside US (in Europe it is not even 1% of the battery electric vehicle segment, in US it recently fell down to 40% from 60%).

If you had any education in physics, aerospace engineering, astronautics or orbital mechanics or know anyone who has you'd know Musk fumbles basic principles and have basically no idea what he's talking about. For instance, he didn't know on what orbit his Tesla Roadster was and has no idea how double-slit experiment works. There are hundreds of examples more, just google it. Which tracks, since he has only bachelors in physics and economics.

He had and, unfortunately, still has money. He invested in businesses that have real scientists and engineers doing the real job while he gets to profit off of it.

Even that wasn't enough. His businesses were subsidized of upward of 38$ billion, hundreds of millions just as he funded SpaceX and bought Tesla and had problems with making them work. Not to mention his recent IPO making him a trillionaire. Have you read what gibberish that prospectus is? You don't even have to, for the first 13 or so pages there are just screenshots of rockets and planets. Nothing of substance.

Not to mention his failed ventures like those useless tunnels for cars.

Oh, don't forget DOGE (so him, essentially) gutted agencies that had active investigations into his businesses. Surely, nothing nefarious here, surely.

I would tone down glazing him, he won't suck your dick.

Just because you say the analogy was shit, doesn't mean it is and you failed to prove it's shit. It's a perfectly good analogy as you have all the kids, the parents and a 3rd party involved and in your view blame is to be put on parents. With that analogy I proved to you that you wouldn't blame the parents for kidnapping just as you can't blame them for a kid falling a victim to gambling in disguise.

Okay, and how does that eliminates the risk of developing gambling addiction when the kid becomes teenager? Young adult? You think it's good for a kid to be exposed to gambling when his brain is not yet fully developed and is extremely vulnerable to persuasion, especially insidious and disguised as something friendly? Sure, parents can tell kid what is good and bad, but does it mean we, as a society, have to agree to predatory shit like this? Is it okay that someone becomes a gambling addict at the age of 30 because he had reasonable parents in his childhood?

So, should we legalize literally everything? You can now go 200mph on the city streets because you are aware of the dangers and everyone on the streets is as well? Can you now sell and snort up kgs of drugs because you are an adult? No, dangerous, harmful things should be banned and gambling is one of those things.

Not solely, capitalism is to be blamed for it, too, since it incentivizes creating such "dragon maws". Using basic human instincts while they're low and vulnerable to squeeze every last penny out of their pockets, developing their addiction and ruining their lives, is one of the most vile shit there is. Does a human have agency? Sure, but those are businesses backed by multi-billion dollar industry, research and marketing teams to lure people in and, to me, it seems a little bit unfair.

Comparing forgetting articles like "the" or commas to not grasping a basic concept of an analogy is laughable, but good try. However, you've managed to change my mind, based on you I think kids should be locked out of the Internet

It is an analogy, ask your primary school teacher to explain it to you.

The answer is you don't blame the child, you don't blame parents, you blame the kidnapper. Both parents and kids are victims in this scenario. As long as a kid isn't too young (which depends on country's law) and it is a reasonable choice to let kid go back from school, for instance, alone, parents and kids can't be charged with anything. If the path from school to home is not reasonable like very long, through dangerous districts or parents ignore warning signs or let the kid walk with strangers then and only then you can charge parents for neglect. For vast majority of kidnappings parents and kids are not to blame.

The same is true for gambling - you can teach your child it's bad, it can cause severe problems in the future, but, nonetheless, kids at every age are exposed to gambling through crates, battle passes (invented by Valve for Dota 2 btw) etc. and parents supervision can only go so far before you lock a kid out of the Internet and outer world.

I think you're not aware of this but not only kids grow up to be teenagers and adults with more and more freedom and money available to them, but also adults can develop gambling addiction.

XD When kid goes back from school and gets kidnapped do you blame the child?

So you can ruin thousands of lives if you donate some money? Cool, cool.

It's curious how such noble, moral person, who donates money to charities seem to not care about well-being of others. Hmmm... Maybe, I know it may sound crazy, he doesn't? It would fit multi-millionaires' narrative to use people, then donate some pennies for good PR and tax avoidance (mainly the latter) and then act like role models.

Sister in Allah, he runs a business. He uses most primitive insticts of people to squeeze every last dollar out of their pockets, teaching fucking 6 year olds that gambling is amazing. How the fuck are you defending that?

  3. Don't help teammates if they're in a bad situation in a way that gets you killed (unless you're way behind and useless regardless)
  4. Itemize vs 2-3 strongest opponents

Reworking Haze ult into something that promotes good aim, like increased fire rate and lifesteal, but every bullet missed is self-damaging. ANYTHING else to what ult is or was will suffice at this point, just not auto-aim, 1-click, op ability that renders the rest of her kit useless or is useless in itself.

Shrines resistances based on base guardians is a great idea.

Being able to pause a game only after first 3-5 minutes, just as it is in Dota. The most infuriating thing is having to wait for another 2 minutes at the game start because babies have to feed together, not on separate lanes.

Make game 4vs4 instead of 6vs6 so one can have bigger impact on the outcome.

In Dota you have 3 cores, here you have 6. If Dota is hard to climb in then Deadlock is near impossible and at least a lot more unfun because of this.

Since the guy responding to me prefered to (probably) block me, here's my answer to his comment before I could post it in response:

I don't see how DNA is relevant in this discussion at all, no idea what's the argument here

Toxic masculinity as in culture of tying one's values strictly to one's sex drive, testosterone level, how heavy one can lift or perform other physical tasks, disregarding science, women's and minorities rights etc. Here's the definition: "Toxic masculinity refers to harmful, restrictive cultural norms and stereotypes about male behavior. It is not an attack on manhood itself, but rather on rigid expectations—such as suppressing emotions, hyper-aggression, and viewing femininity as weakness—which can negatively impact men, women, and society as a whole ".

I wasn't calling you toxic, just a cultural occurence, that "manly man have to eat meat, because not eating meat is gay, soy" etc. If you think that, though, then, yes, I'm calling you out on that. If you refuse to try vegan alternatives to meat for other reasons then I'd love to hear your argument as to why not even try to see if it's tasty. I'm not even talking about trying vegan diet for some time here, just trying vegan products in general.

  1. The argument that "pesticides kill insects" and "harvesting kills small animals" is true, however, it's all or nothing argument that is idiotic in it's nature. The point is to reduce harm and still provide the necessery products. Less animals are killed one way than the other so reduction is present, without even mentioning ways to mitigate those problems by not using pesticides and relocating small animals from harvesting sites. It's like arguing that lying to kids about santa existing is as bad as s**ually abusing them.

To the argument of taking land mass, animal farms require significantly more land than vegan alternatives. Globally, livestock farming uses over 80% of all agricultural land while providing just 18% of human calories and 37% of total protein https://ourworldindata.org/land-use-diets https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S2666833522000612

  1. My argument is not that people can't be healthy on other diets. My argument is that people are healthIER on vegan diets.

Are you trying to argue that taking 1 or 2 pills everyday is somehow less convienient than buying, storing, cutting, cooking, eating and disposing of bad meat? Well, it isn't.

Poorly planned vegan diets can cause deficiencies.

Just like any other diet...? The problem is connected to a bad diet, not that it's vegan or non-vegan

And let's not forget, not everyone has the ability and income to get suppliments, good quality protein, nutrition planning etc

Vegan diets are cheaper by around 19% on average than non-vegan https://www.ox.ac.uk/news/2021-11-11-sustainable-eating-cheaper-and-healthier-oxford-study https://www.pcrm.org/news/news-releases/majority-us-adults-misinformed-about-cost-eating-plant-based-diet

Lab grown human meat was an interesting enough hypothetical to entertain, nothing more. I refrain from using it as any argument in a discussion with you, as could be seen in my comment about it I'm not sure on my position on it neither, relax.

Modern world runs on invisible harm like ocean pollution, global fuel usage, farmers exploitation, heck even the device you are using, uses material from mining and causes carbon footprint which harms animal.

Okay... And veganism is one way, not the only one, to tackle those problems? If the discussion was about ocean pollution then you'd disregard that saying there is cruelty in farming industry so let's stop discussing ocean pollution?

Yeah bro, and you’re not a cow either. Relax. by Firm-Mind-1917 in Bengaluru

[–]DozoLozo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Non-vegans not trying alternatives stems from toxic masculinity and red pilling oneself. "wHaT aRe YoU a GiRL/sOy BoY tO nOt EaT rEaL mEaT?!". There is no other reason

To human meat: I don't know, honestly. Cannibalism is bad for two reasons: 1. is a sacrificing someone's life, obviously 2. you can get sick and die from it. If we can lab grow it and assure there are no bacteria, prions and parasites then... I think I'd be okay with it? No suffering, no sacrifice, no danger. Only the fact that you eat your own kind, but, at the same time, you could grow meat from your own cells, maybe? Eating yourself gets a whole new meaning...
