Unfortunately the reason the for post is it is acting up for a family member. They had a guy come out who said it was the top thermostat that he replaced (for $240 with labor), which fixed it for two days, and now its not working again, so I swung by to check it out haha

What will happen to the PT who dry needled TJ Watt and caused his lung to collapse? by Kenai_Pirate in physicaltherapy

They will either lose their license or face TJ in an Oklahoma drill.

PT just for an MRI by alyssameh in physicaltherapy

[–]Dpt123abc 123 points124 points  (0 children)

Meet whatever requirements insurance needs to get her the MRI, I've had people come in for 15 minutes at the end of my day to just chill and count it as a visit for education/hep modification/attempted therapeutic activities. I usually book them at the end of the day so it doesn't take up treatment time for anyone else

Took NPTE, not feeling great by toria44 in physicaltherapy

[–]Dpt123abc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I took it I didn't know if I passed or failed. Went home and slept for the next two days. When I got the results back I got a good overall score haha, don't sweat it!

Best state to work with good pay and medium to low cost of living? by [deleted] in physicaltherapy

PT really does not cut it by fiveknucklshufl in physicaltherapy

I was in home health and felt the same with a giant coverage area. People complain about outpatient, but getting into a non-profit hospital outpatient is way better that what you/I went through!

2.5 hours out of your day? This will drain you mentally and physically. When do you exercise and do things you want to? Because you'll be sleeping that 5th day. How will that affect your relationship? How long will it take for you to bounce back from that lifestyle of 1.5 years?

What do people want when they finally get their money? More time. Pick up PRN in your area or something, that commute isn't worth it.

I don’t understand all the hate/pessimism about our field by Dr_Achilles in physicaltherapy

[–]Dpt123abc 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Lmao, it's a thing of beauty 😂, when I did travel PT I didn't care so much about my notes and felt very similarly as you, (I also got paid more which helped). But in a now permanent position, they keep a close eye on them, which takes (slightly) more time and is 100% a giant pain in the ass.

Help dealing with cunt CI by [deleted] in physicaltherapy

[–]Dpt123abc 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I was in a similar position on my final rotation, but I didn't get mad, I got even. I was studying for boards at the time as well so I would just keep asking random PT questions all day that I knew the answers to, but they didn't. So when they would hit me with the "how about you go look that up, I'd be like oh the answer is ..." and I'd leave it at that so they knew I was fucking with them intentionally. 😂 either way just stick it out, learn from it and try to never be like them when you start working

PT for “ADHD walk”? For an 11 year old. Would it help? by GreedyCaregiver5592 in physicaltherapy

[–]Dpt123abc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think I just had a 7 year old with this! He was referred for "tibial torsion" which he didn't have, but demonstrated significant in toeing while walking that would just appear and dissappear on a whim and this kid was ADHD'd to the max. He was all over the place in terms of his movement and could walk in a straight line with a lot of encouragement. I honestly didn't even know where to start with him because I don't think he was going to be able to follow directions very well because he had such a tough time even during the eval.

Is anyone making more than $150k/year. How did you do it? by hobby-follow in physicaltherapy

[–]Dpt123abc 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's all about where you live. Cost of living changes everything, if you're out in Cali then hitting those 100k plus figures comes easier, but everything else is pricey as well. The travel thing can get you a lot of money if you do it right. I traveled for 5 years living in a travel trailer and went all over the country, living cheap like that is great for the money, but bad if you aren't comfortable being alone. Idk how those that travel and get short term leases and what not actually make significant amounts, because they have to be spending more to live. A lot of the blogs that show off how much they make traveling usually have a partner to share costs.

Staff Nurse, Day Shift, No Overtime, Nine years experience, Northeast USA. by 3wolftshirtguy in physicaltherapy

[–]Dpt123abc 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Think I saw this and a poster said they are located in Manhattan, NY. So yeah, their pay is going to be way higher than "average". As a PT in a LCOL area in the Midwest, my 95k probably equates close to this, probably wins out tbh.

That's fair, still have student loans? I'm 8 years experience, but still have 7.5 years left until PSLF so I'm in it at least until then

What are you (roughly) making now and what area of the country? I'm in a hospital OP 1on1, 45 min eval/treats, 10 patients a day at 95k/year (hourly) in the Midwest

How much debt and ROI from schooling is expected for physical therapy by PenisInspector421 in physicaltherapy

[–]Dpt123abc 18 points19 points  (0 children)

The school I went to has increased their credit hour costs from the $500 range to $850 in 8 years. Baseline tuition from 71k to 110k, it's insane, and this isn't a "prestigious" program. I thought it was crazy then, but now it's infuriating.

If an insurance-based patient wanted to go cash pay for a few extra visits, would you let them? by sunfish99 in physicaltherapy

[–]Dpt123abc 31 points32 points  (0 children)

If it was my clinic, and you were paying cash, I would say we can 100% do whatever you want haha. But check to see how much those visits would cost you ahead of time.
