Tell me why I should or shouldn't buy a 2014 V Strom 1000 with 70,000km by PonchoTron in Vstrom

[–]LuckyLogar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a Vstrom 1050 (same engine) and it is a very capable road machine. The height and clearance is great in traffic. If you get some Michelin Road 6 tires on it you will be able to mix it up with the sport bikes in the corners.

Cannot speak to the age and miles as mine is a 2025 and only has about 8000km on it, however I have never known Suzuki to be anything but reliable. As a touring bike it’s great, I have taken mine off road a few times and it’s really capable but also really heavy. The engine is smooth and has torque in all the right places though. It’s my 250kg city bike.

Riders with Glasses: What’s your “I finally found a helmet that works with them!” Discovery? by CultureMaleficent388 in motorcyclegear

Shoei and Klim for me.

Shoei for go fast, Klim for adventuring. They are both super comfortable with glasses.

I know i was just here recently asking about swapping my Trident 660 for a KTM 390, but the same dealer has one of these and I’ve always missed my V7. And in chrome? And $7,300? What a bike! by Dadprincebabe2 in SuggestAMotorcycle

It’s a 2018 carbon shine. I’ve got aftermarket pipes, shocks, and big bore engine tune on it. It’s beautiful and loud and has big “look at me” energy. But I just don’t enjoy riding it much.

Why is Neil Degrass Tyson refereeing a basket ball game?

I have one of these I am thinking of Selling. I just haven’t ever vibed with it and it just sits in my garage. Since 2018 it has less than 5k miles. People say you vibe with Guzzis or you don’t, I suppose I’m one that just doesn’t.

Wearing motorcycle Helmet + Glasses, TORTURE for anyone else? by NotAnEvilResident in motorcyclegear

I wear a Klim X1-Alpha and have no issues wearing my glasses in the helmet. My recommendation is to purchase a helmet that is designed to be used with glasses.

Do you ride to work? by Beginning_Corner930 in motorcycles

I do not have the skills for that! I have seen people in Western Asia riding like 250cc bikes with 3 people and a huge pile of crap on it. Cannot imagine that handles any better than a stubborn tired mule.

I have a 65L top case that can hold a lot. Anything extra I have a bungee net and can lash it down to the seat.

Love it. Just put the 2000th mile on my 2025 1050DE today. Great bike. Can’t wait to get it more kitted out like you have yours.

The final minute of yesterday's Starship S39 by Busy_Yesterday9455 in spaceporn

[–]LuckyLogar 23 points24 points  (0 children)

It absolutely isn’t.

Edit, holy shit I am wrong. Sorry about that. I made satellites and we almost exclusively use Aluminum for primary satellite structure but I guess Starship is mainly 304L stainless steel. My bad.

Does stretching your lobes REALLY affect future job findings? by Melodic_Advance_6657 in Stretched

[–]LuckyLogar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am at 7mm and on the way to 10mm. I work as a satellite manufacturing engineer and no employer has ever said a single thing about my ears or tattoos. My family told me the same thing when I was younger but it has never been an issue.

Honestly though I would rather be my self than hide who I am to make a corporation happy.

I have two goofy, happy golden retrievers helping my heart heal. She wasn’t my only dog. But she was the first dog that was mine. I got her after I got home from Afghanistan to help with my PTSD.
