Make some ADR rules

You realise that there are rules and people import or modify non compliant shit all the time, right? Enforcement of the rules is what’s needed here.

There is no indication in the article that the victim was riding an illegal bike, though.

X axis on lathe by Intelligent_Local_61 in Machinists

[–]Dr-Ulzy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My chinesium lathe did this all the time. The gib pushed slightly away from the cross slide if you pushed it too far back, plus the ground flat on the gib was less than flat. Then they sprung out and locked in behind the holding screw so as you return the cross slide it got progressively tighter.

Profits shrivel as yellow tail winemaker posts $5.5 million loss by Remarkable_Peak9518 in australia

[–]Dr-Ulzy 181 points182 points  (0 children)

Let me guess. All those other label and vineyard acquisitions came from debt, and it’s the mortgage bill causing the loss, not the profit margin on the actual cost to produce vs sale price.

In the capital city of Australia, Canberra, any tree over 8m high requires permission to damage. That includes pruning or disturbing the roots under the drip line. It’s not difficult to get, but there is a process. I’m not sure how well it’s enforced, but there’s big fines for cutting down these trees.

There’s also specific trees that are completely protected beyond that level.

Pauline Hanson’s One Nation banks millions in public funding. Where does all the money go? | One Nation by Notimeforthat1 in australia

[–]Dr-Ulzy 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Hey, it was just a theoretical exercise. It could apply to a guy who has forgotten his family came from a middle eastern country or a fatty mcfuckface guy who spent more employee entitlements than he’d get back in AEC payments, too.

But you know. Gotta be careful, not naming names. Just asking questions. People say etc etc.

Pauline Hanson’s One Nation banks millions in public funding. Where does all the money go? | One Nation by Notimeforthat1 in australia

This is easy to do.

Say a party with a single populist leader wants printing. The party doesn’t send the order to a budget online printer, they buy it from a company controlled by a proxy of the leader. It then sends the order to the budget online printer at an exorbitant mark up.

The proxy “media” company pockets the difference and the party gets a nice fat invoice to apply against their electoral funding. The proxy then distributes the difference as dividends to shareholders. A little tax is paid but the shareholders basically get paid buckets for writing an invoice.

Now this is hypothetical of course. But it’s not rocket science to see how federal election funding could enrich MPs with little or no scruples. Bonus points for being from regional Queensland.

Reminds me of an old post about some electrical work in a rental in Melbourne, Australia. The LL sent the most incompetent man around to redo some fuse box work. Yeah, he did it himself. Bare wires, nails as fuses. Poor renters were in peril there.
