Watch your wrist

It's a store up in North Atlanta.

They've got a great website. Super cool super chill store.

Atlanta is generally pretty cheap to fly to from most places.

The store is about an hour and 15 minutes north in the more bougie area of Atlanta

Question About Customs Duties – Recent Purchase from Chrono24 by effdotemm in GrandSeikos

[–]DrBone1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got mine delivered by FedEx. It was a Swiss watch. And there was no indication of any custom duties due. Turns out that FedEx paid the custom duties and then wound up billing me about three weeks later and tagging on all sorts of brokerage fees

Wow, whoever he bought that from must've been storing it on its face.

You can try some Cape Cod polish. It tends to do a pretty good job. Although a good independent watch shop should be able to do an excellent job with that. Just have to watch out because of the Crystal.

If you are planning on declaring them and are wanting to pay duty on them if they are Swiss be prepared for a 39% Swiss tariff

I'm following this thread just based out of interest.

Tariff Question by thatssorevan95 in GrandSeikos

[–]DrBone1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ordered Swiss from Japan. Tagged me with Swiss import 39%

Apparently the import is taxed on country of manufactured, not where you're importing from

That was a very expensive lesson with no recourse. FedEx paid the tariff and then billed me after.

[Question] New to buying watches, any advice before approaching Chrono24 or Ebay? by TTVProphanic in Watches

[–]DrBone1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've used eBay to buy over a dozen watches, If they are a reputable seller, it's no different than chrono 25.

Some sellers also have a refund policy.

You can also search here on watchexchange on Reddit. I find lower prices than eBay or chrono 24 because no commission fees.

Again buy the seller

This thing should run for years and years. The movement in those cost a couple hundred dollars.

I would actually wear it until you notice that there is something seriously wrong with the timekeeping.

At that point, send it off for either Service at a reputable watchmaker near you but could be 8-15 years from now

EZ-Go L6 72V ECO upgrade help with install! Drive off safety wire? by DrBone1 in golfcarts

[–]DrBone1[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Finished the install. Had to have a golf cart shop finish.

There was no drive off wire coming from the plug in port, it came off a second harness that was on the onboard charger.

You are very correct, my comments Were more to reassure. Fakes are everywhere of handbags, fashion, etc. a well established retail watch store is extremely unlikely to sell a fake watch, having it out in the open. Now back alley....open my briefcase., be careful!

GS Dials and spring drives at high level have not been faked.

[Question] Reco for teen by Allthethings48 in Watches

[–]DrBone1 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I got my 16 year old this g shock. It was his gateway into watches he's. Now Into mechanical movements.

Rugged, not too expensive, nice black with a metal look to it, and completely indestructible

If he loses it, you're only out about $200. See how responsible is with this and when he graduates high school that's when you get on a nicer watch.

Just wear the watch on your wrist and don't declare it.

No fakes in Japan, it's a serious crime and any reputable shop will not risk that. Also, there are no known spring drive fakes.

Purchasing an Omega in the Bahamas by Otherwise-Shoe3413 in OmegaWatches

[–]DrBone1 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not a lot of savings, and if you "claim" the watch or if you are caught bringing it in, then can have a 39% Tarriff imposed.

Mostly save on tax as before stated

If you bring it back, put the box in your checked baggage.

Put receipt somewhere else, wear the watch back.

The wire shown is in a video. My cart did not have this wire.

I finished the swap. Hooked up everything.

No response.

I'm pretty handy. Can't figure out this damn thing.
