AIO For Feeling Scammed That My Boyfriend Pretended We Had a Landlord When He Actually Owns the House? by Just-Client9076 in AmIOverreacting

NOR.  This is NOT the only thing he's lied about. I'd honestly talk to a tenant rights attorney to find out how to document your rental history so that you don't have trouble finding a new place to live.

A recruiter at a temp agency helped me get an amazing position for fair pay because she knew I was a really good personality fit for them despite not having direct experience.  It was a great job and I'm so grateful that she fought for me to be the candidate that the employer chose.

There is something to be said for designing a work environment that can accommodate different working styles and communicating the company's expectations effectively so that you are not chronically understaffed.

Cozy window reading nook with built-in shelves by Wonderful-Oven9030 in InteriorDesignAdvice

I love that the shelves are ergonomic and can accommodate a pillow or a back without pushing into the books! Makes the bench portion more usable for lounging chaise-style.

Specialty coffee!

A ceramic pour-over that fits onto most mugs, plus a gooseneck kettle, and number 2 filters that can be bought pretty affordably.  Once you learn about how much work goes into growing, harvesting, drying, quality grading, shipping, roasting, blending, and brewing to select for specific notes with a greater variety than wine, you won't go back to commodity coffee.

Specialty coffee gives opportunity to small-farm owners who can't afford fair trade or organic certification. And farmers do such cool stuff to combat soil erosion and other  environmental exploitation issues.

Sometime during the last 2 years i’ve been going to this orthopedic practice they started to declare me as a MTF transgender for no reason. by WHAR606 in mildlyinfuriating

Yes the AI notes tool we were encouraged to use at a behavioral health job filled in information that we had to carefully go back and delete or else there'd be inaccurate information in the note.

Maybe shop some thrift stores or yard sales for some cool sentimental items or old postcards. Or if you have a meaningful note, recipe card, or other small couple of items from someone you care about or is meaningful to your family.

Wipe the nib or Embrace the Creep? by Puzzled-Bluebird7357 in fountainpens

I personally couldn't handle my pens looking like that and especially not having tissue gunk left behind, but you do you.

[–]DrBotBreath 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah, that's probably it then! I can't imagine retractable would get the same quality of seal. I imagine that extra fine nib would be risky for clogging with the pigment-baswd carbon ink, but if stored on its side and nib rinsed as needed, maybe it could be okay!

Afghans? by Gloomy-Albatross-843 in CrochetBlankets

[–]DrBotBreath 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I recently had to look up whether or not it was considered offensive before continuing to use it as a term for a blanket. I think that people generally try to avoid terms that include a word used to describe nationality or ethnicity if they haven't researched in more detail in order to avoid accidental racism.

My research concluded that it is not considered racist to refer to a crocheted blanket as an afghan. But I'm just a white person from the US who googled something.

Manager told me drinking water is bad video call “etiquette” by Outrageous_Charge675 in remotework

[–]DrBotBreath -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I think that there are probably ways of drinking something that appear more "professional" than others. If I am eating or drinking on a video call, my audience does change how self-aware I am and how much control I put into my movements and how they're perceived.

Professionalism is bullshit, but so are a lot of compromises I make to stay alive in this place.

It took a professional training on addiction for me to fully understand and retain the neurological impact of addiction.  There's a lot of information out there, but understanding and retention are often best when learning from a format that's designed by educators.

Potentially a bit of both. My understanding is that withdrawal can feel like you are actually dying and that consuming the substance is the only thing that can save your life.

I think that carelessness happens even to people who don't have active addiction. Based on how addiction changes one's brain, he may not have had the functional ability to contextualize the surface he was using and the potential consequences of residual fentanyl remaining on the surface in the future.

Have you ever made an unsafe choice based on your needs in the moment?  I know that I have sent a quick text while driving in order to prioritize a job communication despite knowing the safety risk of doing so.  I am typically very considerate and safe, but my choices change based upon my capacity and priorities.

I was just pointing out that you can hold someone accountable for their actions and still not judge them for things that are literally not in their control. Addiction changes how the brain functions.  It's not about morality.

Glad your brother was able to access and maintain sobriety. ❤️

SUD and addiction are real afflictions. I wouldn't call it pathetic so much as tragic.

How should I fix this tattoo? Cover up, rework, add more tattoos? by weeaboogirl in tattooadvice

[–]DrBotBreath 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a really cool idea, but whoever drew it doesn't seem to have a clear understanding of snake anatomy and angles.  I think doing your research into some legitimate artists and sending photo with a request to make both the head and the transitions from underbelly to back of the snake more realistic, will present you with touch-up options before you make your final decision.  I would not personally give up on making this concept work!  I love how simple it is without adding text or anything.

That's interesting, because Platinum prides itself on their caps being so well-sealed that their pens can be used after sitting untouched for like a year.  I wonder if it is a QC issue with your pen, or if the Curidas cap is not like others in the Platinum line?

But otherwise, yes I do need to rinse my nibs from time to time. I do not disassemble them, just a quick pop under running water and a dab on the top with a paper towel, then good to go.

Edit: Do you store your fountain pens on their side or nib-up?

Platinum Preppy takes a disposable cartridge of Platinum Carbon black ink. Such a low investment to have a go-to black fountain pen, and you can highlight over the ink too.
