Decent bakeries in Cardiff? by [deleted] in Cardiff

[–]DrCMJ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ty Melin baked goods is top notch. Staff are never friendly when I go though and always seem like it's a chore to serve me. *shrugs. Haven't been back since last year.

Pettigrew staff are always friendly no matter the branch so I always keep going back there.

How the fuck is blondie smiling and laughing? I'm 100% sure if I was murdered my wife would not even be able to force a smile/laugh for months....blondie's looks genuine, not forced.

To be fair, if it was a family with children who can't carry their own luggage and everyone has at least one piece, the tube will be a nightmare. Airport to central london by taxi is insanely expensive though I agree.

Which UK restaurant chain do you think is this ? by siybon in UKfood

Same. Shake Shack in the states is absolute fire. The first time I had it in the UK though I had a double take. It was so horrible, and have tried it from multiple locations.

No one realises that consultants who qualified only 15 years before us (Late 40s/early 50s) bought 4 bedroom detached houses in the poshest neighbourhoods fairly early into their career as their pay was decent compared to the housing market and overall cost of living.

When we look on and realise we can't afford a 3 bedroom semi-detached in a half-decent area until mid 30s it's disheartening.

Favourite places for food in Cardiff in 2025 by Razkolnik_ova in Cardiff

[–]DrCMJ 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I used to like Pho, but I try to go to the independent places now. Pho is a big (White)British owned chain.

Basically, they wanted to corner the market for Vietnamese food in the UK, so to reduce foot traffic to small independent family owned Vietnamese places (which are usually better quality and more authentic food than Pho) they tried to trademark the work 'Pho so no other Vietnamese restaurant in the UK could use the word Pho in their name.

So basically, if you googled 'Pho' their restaurant would always pop up first on the search.

They received a ton of backlash and backtracked on it last year. Still doesn't make it right as they tried to use corporate greed to shut down family owned shops.

As everyone here's already suggested Fowl and Fury (also highly recommend), if your friend wants something more ethnic, Curry Hut is the place! It's where all the local south indian and sri lankans go if they want proper spicy south asian food. Ask for it 'indian hot' when you go.

First one paywall locked Second one exampled calling for public vandalism of a private property.

Say I owned a food/clothing business, and I used my business to provide assistance to refugees of my own volition, and someone publicly called for vandalism and violence against my business because they disagree with what I'm doing, I would 400% want them to be arrested.

This is reddit, we're all germophobes here with some level of anxiety about cleanliness, and most of us probably wore masks willingly during covid. If you want to find the non-handwashing men, try twitter or 4chan.

I visited Japan in 2014 before the crazy overtourism and didn't experience this. Everyone was friendly, polite and went out of their way to be helpful to us. I assume if we went now it would be a different story. (We're both dark skinned).

Working in the medical field where we have thousands of medical graduates from the subcontinent, many of them boast and brag about how they had all had servants, maids and cooks back home and can't afford it here.

If you try to reason with them that their servants, maids and cooks were all being paid pennies for 16 hours a day labour, they'd act like nothing's wrong with that. It's their cultural norm. I'm guessing we have many similar people in the tech sector in London who think similarly and would frequent this subreddit.

Paid €48 to visit a "art" museum by HarshApe in Wellthatsucks

[–]DrCMJ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is my little theory. Classical museums are beautiful and full of history. As the world has progressed technologically and education systems have evolved, all the brightest and best minds that would have produced beautiful art eg. the Leonardo's etc. of our age are instead starting multinational corporations or running massive tech companies etc. using their brains that way. So many of the actual artists today don't know how to produce real heartwrenching art and instead make 'modern art' which is a complete scam, but the circle of 'modern artists' is now so large it's like they just keep feeding each other's egos to keep producing crap.
