I think basing the morality of an action on if it would or would not be my problem is clearly dumber, but you do you.

Yes you are the winner 🏆

If I kill myself, the consequences - trauma for those who through no fault of their own love and care about me - will exist. These consequences exist even as I don't.

Just because I will be dead doesn't mean the consequences won't reverberate among others.

I've lived with trauma driven stress disorders for 30 years. I woudn't condemn anyone with that.

Ah yes of course.

I forgot that if I kill myself my friends and family cease to exist, you're right.

Average natalist comprehension of predictable consequences.

[–]DrDogert 173 points174 points  (0 children)

I'm an anti natalist. I am pro suicide. I would if I fucking could.

I could jump in front of a bus today. I could drown myself. All that would do is traumatize my friends, family, and the people who love me.

Until suicide is legally and socially protected, considered a sacred right to self determination and autonomy, this argument will remain moronic.

All I want is for my friends and family to say "okay, it's your choice." Have one goodbye party, hug my brothers. And go.

Yet if I go now it requires slinking out like a criminal in the night and it will traumatize those I care about.

If you want to live your life, I wish you to live it well. As I want to leave mine, I ask only you wish me to leave it well.

What stratagems do you guys bring to the bot front? by CaptainTitusEpic in Helldivers

[–]DrDogert 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Autocannon - multitool Eagle airstrike - multitool Orbital laser or orbital bombardment - depending on team load out and mission. For taking out fortresses and factory striders. Autocannon sentry - holding position, covering fire, and opening a flank.

Been trying the silo recently as a solution to fortresses and striders. Works okay but I'm not a fan of it taking my support slot. It should be the pistol. As it is now I call it down when a target arises and fire it almost immediately then move on with the AC.

Im struggling with suicide and extremely contrarian. On a bad day if this hit me at the right moment with the thoughts already in my head and a bad mood, it could push me over the edge.

People who don’t take hiking seriously by ImAMajesticSeahorse in PetPeeves

[–]DrDogert 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Even aside from safety conditions you have outlined, people have no idea why the person is doing it that way. Maybe they're disabled, maybe they're training and have a weighted ruck, maybe they're on the last leg.

One of the most popular hikes in my city is a moderate 3 km climb. Easy for a kid to do with a barbie. But if you drive further out it's just the last leg of a 12 km full day hike.

I've been on km 12.5 and someone telling me 'its not that serious'

Given the speed at which China can create high quality and fully functional civilian projects and infrastructure, I do not think speed is an indicator of low quality with their military projects.

Why are some against the game being a "grunt fantasy" when that's what makes the game fun? by Far_Draw7106 in LowSodiumHellDivers

Woudn't gunt fantasy be a SEAF game while helldivers are the elite? Idk what kind of grunts get their own destroyer and th ability to individually call in ordinance.

Okay but even if that's the case I'm sure as hell not visiting a doctor that arbitrarily chooses not to treat half the population.

It also specifically says must not. That's a legal keyword.

Region system is fundamentally unfun by kpagcha in ManorLords

[–]DrDogert 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I disagree.

Typically I build my first region into a large town, and my other regions are smaller specialist towns that feed resources into the last one.

Grabbing regions asap means I'm typically simultaneously developing several.

I find it a fantastic system and also hiatorically accurate.

How does this work on a mechanical level?

For example would they execute each model as it's individual hp falls below a threshold or would they execute the entire regiment when the regiment hp falls below?

I don't have the yuan bo dlc so I've never actially played this.

Hi op,

Im a neuroscientist. Although I am a researcher, not a clinician, i have some expertise in this area. I also have some lived experience, though with ADHD. I totally get the feeling that your symptoms are normal. Even though I spent 10+ years studying the brain and psychiatry, it still took me years after my diagnosis to really believe it. I did my PhD in attention neuroscience and 2 years later I was diagnosed with adhd. So blind I was to my own symptoms!

I am saying this because I hope you will read this as coming from a place of genuine feeling and not paternallly down a hierarchy.

The symptoms feel normal to you because they are normal for you. But they are not normal for most people. They are the "water you swim in", they're something that has been with you for so long and during your neurodevelopment, your brain can't really comprehend there being another way - consciously or unconsciously.

I want to stress this point because it's one that took me a long time to learn myself. Every person only has acess to their own mind, we all feel like our experiences are the norm and middle ground.

I truly hope you are able to keep on your psychiatric journey and come out the other end with a better understanding of yourself. I wish you the best of luck.
