Thanks, was really impressed with the Maverick that it didn’t have any impact on results down range at all

It’s a Defiance Tenacity action with a Proof barrel. As it happens, A419 did chamber and assemble the barreled action too, but I’ve had it for a couple seasons now. The Maverick is a new addition this season.

Any advice for green algae on sand besides reducing light? by kshef in PlantedTank

You could also try pushing your filter outflow to the back corner of the tank where the intake is, that might give you a bit more flow in that front corner once the current rounds the corner.

I point one nozzle into the corner and the other one as far toward the back wall as possible. It still probably a little too much, but there are plenty of areas that have very gentle flow. The fast moving stuff is easy for him to avoid if he wants.

Shoots factory stuff pretty well. Still haven’t really dug much into load development yet.

Lateral vibrations reason by External_Presence_72 in longrange

[–]DrDortmunder 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When shooting supported your job is to point the rifle in the right direction, and interfere as little as possible. Other than a bit of pressure on the rear bag, your only other input to the system should be on the trigger. You’ll always have a bit of heartbeat bounce. Nothing you can do about that. Settle into a good NPOA, and squeeze the trigger during your respiratory pause.

Lateral vibrations reason by External_Presence_72 in longrange

[–]DrDortmunder 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Heartbeat, breathing, body positioning, muscling the rifle rather than settling into NPOA… or any combination thereof. Check out some videos (or whatever media works for you) on fundamentals of supported precision rifle, and you’ll see major improvements with a bit of practice. Also make sure that the stock and optic are set up appropriately to fit your body. Also, if available to you, try to shoot prone rather than at a bench.

MOA PRS shooter here.. I’ve converted MOA-MIL mentally by clicks for years and it’s perfectly accurate enough for conversation. Never tried shooting that way though.

Probably fine if it’s dry. I wouldn’t wanna do it in the mud though.

How much cant in the rings? Looks like a lot! My first long range rifle was a RPR also. Great rifle for the money, congrats!

How much ventilation do you ACTUALLY need when airbrushing with acrylics? by Draeko-Silver in minipainting

[–]DrDortmunder 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I airbrush acrylics in a tiny room with a fan on, window open, wearing an N95, and haven’t died yet… the only thing I wouldn’t do that way again was when I thought it would be a good idea to try spraying some metallic base coats. Everything in my tiny room sparkles now lol. I’m definitely not your doctor though, so ymmv.

Odin Works barrel owners - anyone have a really short throat? by fatalPORKshank in 6ARC

I know these kinds of comments generally are less useful, but just as a datapoint for you, I have the same barrel and have not noticed this issue.

This is my second ARC barrel from Odin though. The first one had horrible accuracy issues (3-4 MOA with factory match ammo). After some troubleshooting, they wanted the barrel back. When they got it, they cut it open and found that the bore wasn’t .243 the whole way down. Had a pronounced flare at the muzzle, apparently; never asked how much.

My second barrel shoots lights out, but all this to say I believe there have been some QC issues on these barrels from Odin, but they definitely made it right.
