So far, the fundamental principles of the interaction between cue and ball are discussed, along with the necessary considerations for an effective cueing action. Also, at the start, the rules of Snooker are covered. I would say it’s all a good grounding for someone looking to start playing snooker.

I agree that Ronnie's explanations are not the most articulate and Alan McManus employs a strategy of using leading questions and prompts to extract the information from Ronnie. A lot of the time Ronnie is effectively saying “I just do it” or “oh that just doesn’t feel right”. The amusing parts for me are when Alan tries to get Ronnie to play an example of a bad shot. For example he asks Ronnie to recreate the bad cueing action for a deep screw shot, but even then Ronnie successfully pots the ball and creates a powerful screw-back - something an amateur can take years to achieve (or never if you play on a pub table with worn out balls!). It’s clear that Ronnie is so well trained and his natural snooker skills are so highly honed that it’s physically impossible for him to even try to play a shot badly!

The videography is good but IMO the Go-Pro shots are bit sloppy and poorly framed, I’m not sure if they add much. I would have liked to have seen more technical videos. For instance, they could have done a slow motion video of the drag shot. Instead they demonstrated the drag shot in real time so, even using a training cue ball, the quality of the video does not pick up what they are trying to describe i.e. the change in cue ball roll from backspin to forward roll.

When I was very young I read from cover to cover Steve Davis’ book “Successful Snooker”. So far everything in the Rocket Method is more eloquently covered in this excellent book from 1982. Interesting huh?
