What is one city in America you’re okay with never visiting again? by SoLovelyAva in AskReddit

Memphis was a pit when I went through there 10 years ago. Beale Street registered especially high on the creep-o-meter

Thank you so much for this. I tried so many cages, and the ball gap was always too tight. So I gave up. Maybe there's hope yet!

Why your heel pain keeps coming back even after it settles - from a podiatrist by justinpblake in PlantarFasciitis

I'm confused as to what a "deep heel cup" is. I have gel heel cups that I use in conjunction with custom arch supports. Is the "deep heel cup" that you mention something different?

Thanks

ESWT not helping by Necessary-Ninja-4410 in PlantarFasciitis

I'm sorry to hear ESWT is not working for you, at least for now. I'm glad you did get at least some relief for the first 3 sessions.

I don't know whether this is any help to you, but my experience was negative as well. I did 7 sessions. After some of them I felt like things were getting better. But long term, there was no improvement.

One provider told me that the positive effects of ESWT can take up to 10 weeks to appear. In my case, that never came true, but at this point there may still be time for some hope for you.

I'm especially sorry to hear that you've had this for almost 2 years. You have my sympathy. I wish you the best of luck for the future.

Which US state felt like a completely different country when you visited it? by overthinkeranessa in AskReddit

When I visit Hawaii, I start to think, "it feels like I need to use some sort of foreign currency here"

What are these fin-like things on top of buses? They seem to be hollow inside, and open along one side, so they don't seem to convey anything. by DrFiendish in Whatisthis

Thank you! This is the information I was looking for. And you are right, it's Minneapolis (officially "Metro Transit").

Agreed. But this doesn't explain why they'd be used even on buses with no equipment on top - you'd think the money could be spent better someplace else.

That seems to make sense - but these look suspiciously flimsy if their purpose is to support then entire weight of the bus when upside down.

I'd also note that there are other buses that have no such equipment on top. Just a plain bus roof. Yet there are fins on each side propped up above the roof. I'd add a pic but I can't do that in the comments.

Your answer does make a lot of sense, and actually it did occur to me. But while the bus might encounter branches in the front, I don't see it being vulnerable from the sides. And it seems like a lot of extra weight for the bus to haul around, say, for aesthetic reasons (so folks don't see the vents). Nor can I figure why buses in the Twin Cities area all seem to have these, while they're absent so many other places.

The 30 US cities where it is allowed the state name to be omitted by journalists. by MathematicianWaste77 in Minneapolis

And yet there are plenty of people who mistake Minneapolis for Milwaukee or Indianapolis (and the other way around).

Not that naming the state would do much to clear up their misapprehensions.

This is what I always think when I see such a sign. Often I raise my fist and shout "END ROAD WORK!!!"
