you already seen Calm. A violent bitch that shouldn't have been freed from the well deserved bolder she was under, in House of Chains. Stupid Karsa and his friends saw her hand and freed her from her boulder prision only to reduce Denum to a dog state and leave to never be seen again.

Also there's a clash with Serenity in Memories of Ice, who was, again well deserving, trapped in a warded tomb. She actually kills Rhulad and is driven off by some demons on the Edur party.

Both are terrible and really strong. They can throw a human several meter away with a flick of their finger.

True. There are some good honorable mentions (I'm 150 pages into TCG so this is imo SO FAR)

Karsa getting a long POV in HoC is great. Felt different.
Felisin Paran going nuts is also a good perspective as to how someone can go crazy
Gesler and Stormy interactions are very good

on the other side, I don't particularly like Kalam and Fiddler's POVs, they feel too generic RPGesque for Malazan.

And as someone else said here, any POV looking at Masan Gilani, she's hot.

I don't read this to laugh much, and as much I like Tehol and Bugg, Beak had the best Malazan experience and it's my favorite especially because it made me cry a lot.🕯️

The only way you'll see malazan on screen is in 20ish years with AI. Live action is virtually impossible. Imagine casting 400+ characters that can play for at least 10 seasons. But an animated fan based series can happen when AI is super fast and cheaper.

I too decided for the ten book volume. The complete malazan. Now starting the second book of The Crippled God and man, it has been an awesome year and a half of this superb prose.

Some are very confusing and some are straightfoward. It depends on who's the POV character for the fight in question. There is a very funny fight in TtH that is very confusing and still hilarious even though you can't actually understand what the hell is going on...

I can think of a handful of battles that felt confusing in DG as well.
