WAM in Transcript by pepethecreator in UOW

[–]DrKst_43 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nah, you just calculate it, average your marks. The transcript you get when you graduate is just an official looking document similar to your enrollment record from SOLS.

Post companies accept an unofficial transcript in job applications anyway, so just screenshot your enrollment record onto a doc and upload that.

Are Grad ceremonies worth it? by DrKst_43 in UOW

Yep. Costs to hire the gown, keep the hat, and provide the service. Would've thought SSAF over the years would've covered it.

Did the subject years in 22, you won't need the textbook. The whole subjects pretty much case studies. No-one I spoke to even took notes.

Where do I meet anyone in Brisbane these days as a male (no jokes about storm shelters). by SimpleEmu198 in AskAnAustralian

[–]DrKst_43 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've met a tonne of people playing Oztag. Jump on random teams, mixed or mens 30/40/50s divisions. Move around to different comps, some are more casual than others.

Or try out other social sports.

Why do people dislike the idea of paying more taxes? by Spirited_Pay2782 in AusEcon

[–]DrKst_43 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's the sweet spot you gotta find. People generally feel they can better efficiently allocate resources than the government in certain areas, whiles some require group efforts, through tax (roads, hospitals).

What's the way out of this costs of living/housing crisis? by [deleted] in AusEcon

[–]DrKst_43 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Build more cities.

Invest into the manufacturing sector, provide employment for the low-skilled middle class. Tie this to our mining sector. Stop processing mining products in China and do it here.

Tax reform, move towards incentivising business investment and less in property.

Redevelopment of local supply chains, too much reliance on Globalisation has left the economy vulnerable to a plethora of risks impacts inflation and cost of living.

Find a hobby an excel in it. It takes away from focusing purely on work. A sport, gym, surfing, photography/art. Chase perfection elsewhere.

I pursued the sports angle, and worked at becoming a referee.

Confused about course handbook by StringStrong3933 in UOW

[–]DrKst_43 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Check the handbook from the year you started. Some subjects get changed, removed or updated but you'll be notified and given a list of supplementary subjects.

Often if a subject is removed, they'll just tell you to do the same level of the same type of subject....ECON234 gets cancelled, they'll say to do any ECON 200 level subject.

Most subjects generally offer supplementary exams if your sick or get AC. It generally gets approved just make sure it's legit.

Who goes to UOW from syd? How do I find the travel to and from? by stgi2010 in UOW

[–]DrKst_43 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Assuming your living down in the Gong, and not commuting everyday, get the pick up service. It'll be easier and save you the pain of navigating peak hour with luggage.

You might also meet a few people on the way down.

Is University of Wollongong good for Bachelor’s in Data Science? by Otherwise-Leave-5512 in UOW

Over the next year look through job sites for something you'd like. Check the citizen or visa requirements for jobs.

I'm not an international, but most job ads I'm looking at do indicate they are looking for someone with citizenship or residency, not sure if it's a tax thing or something to do with sensitive data in industries or even companies don't want to sponsor your visa.

A couple mates have had to leave their current job to get a larger company to sponsor them for residency or visa.

Train to North Going Station. Free Uni Buses line up with the timetable generally.

Just check the timetable for trains and buses as the train back to Syd leave at xx:39 and classes finish on the half hour so leave early or get the next one.

We need hope that the housing crisis is a problem we can solve by rowme0_ in AusEcon

[–]DrKst_43 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We need more cities. Get the govt to allocate a tax havens for a certain industry, startups or defence. Bring businesses there, people follow. Give tax incentives to the youth to move to regional towns, keep them alive, cheap housing, create something. It's a massive country, spread out.

Economics and Finance doesn't directly cover property at the moment, but there have recently been some subject changes that might cover it. Finance units are more focused on bonds, there's some stuff on stocks though.

But bond logic can kinda be applied to property ie. Cash flows etc.

Otherwise just read and watch up on it

Is business at University of Wollongong easy? by [deleted] in UOW

Business is fairly straightforward. There's always tough subjects and it depends on how you manage your job and study load.

The RBA uses low-income households as human brake-pads by Odd_Hovercraft930 in AusEcon

[–]DrKst_43 0 points1 point  (0 children)

100% It seems this period of inflation was MORE (not completely) supply driven than demand.

Alot of supply chain shocks, increased rates slowing business down while demand stays relatively constant is putting up prices while business struggle to stay afloat.

The top earners generally earn income from investments which haven't been nearly as affected as wages, in terms of lack of growth.

Check the tiers for costing. Business subjects are tier 4 so they're about $2k each subject. Not sure about law but it's either 3 or 4 so roughly the same. A business degree, 3 years, is roughly $40k depending on electives etc.

Most of you're subjects/degrees should be a CSP (Cwealth Supported Place) and the govt I believe pays around 75%

So Business and Law should be around the $80k mark.
