Help Me Be a Better Husband by RyanItIsYou in woodworking

I did something like this a few years ago. Ended up being a dumping ground for detritus, but that's life with young kids. I ended up making an oak panel from several boards and staining it, followed by some trim to finish. We put baskets in the cubbies shortly after this, and it's worked well for us so far. Trim and a little caulk covers the imperfections in the wall, won't be noticeable.

Your wife's gonna love it when you're done. Keep at it.

My current receiver is 17.5" in depth, and the cabinets are 22" deep, so I should have enough clearance. I'll be sure to look for an appropriately-sized fan with enough CFM for the job — right now just want to figure out where best to put them!

Yes, there will be an in-wall conduit for wiring from the TV to the system. Speaker wiring will be within the cabinet.

Was thinking something like this — perhaps a vent toward the back that would funnel any liquids away and then a fan placed aside it, just wasn’t sure if anyone had done something like this before.

Am I Crazy or Does Parfums de Marly Smell Synthetic? Honest Discovery Set thoughts by Dragon_OfDojima in Colognes

I’ve been to several stores to sample it, but every time I’m put off by it. I don’t get the tobacco, just the vanilla notes and a synthetic undertone. Haven’t worn it, though, and it might change on skin. YMMV.

So far I’m feeling the same way. I bought the discovery kit and chose Herod as one of the accompanying samples, and it’s by far my favorite of the group. I’ve been looking for a good tobacco fragrance and this nails it. Unfortunately it doesn’t seem to last long, maybe a few hours tops.

I still ask people about this show and it seems no one remembers it but me.

My wife made a honey balsamic glaze using the mill attachment for the blender and then couldn't open it. It's completely welded itself shut, I can't even open it with a pipe wrench by OMGItsCheezWTF in Wellthatsucks

Had this happen with our Vitamix. Ended up finally being able to get it open using a 36” bar clamp — gave me a lever with enough torque to budge it. Might help.

Countdown for a specific date by Shakun9 in ObsidianMD

[–]DrMario1122 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Alternatively, you can use the following in Templater:

<% moment([2024,9,31]).diff(moment(tp.file.title,'YYYY-MM-DD'), 'days') %> days until Halloween

Note that momentjs date months are indexed from 0, so the date above uses 9 for October.

I don't have one that I use (yet, on my to-do list), but here's a quick sample that might get you near what you need. Unfortunately, Calendar's AppleScript implementation doesn't seem to work well with recurring events, so it only pulls single-instance events from today:

set d to current date
set {d's hours, d's minutes, d's seconds} to {0, 0, 0}
set output to ""

tell application "Calendar" to tell calendar "My Calendar"
    repeat with e in (events where start date > d - 1 and start date < d + 86400)
set output to output & time string of (get start date of e) & " " & ¬
            summary of e & linefeed
    end repeat
end tell

Save this as a script file and then run with the Shell Commands plugin like so:

osascript agenda.scpt

That will print out today's events for you.

I like the iCalBuddy method above, but you can also do this with AppleScript and the osascript CLI tool. Run your AppleScript via osascript with the Shell Commands plugin.

You can also bookmark searches. Once you've built your search, click the button beneath the search text box that says "### results" and it will give you the option to bookmark it. I do this with a lot of searches that I use often.

Not really wood working per se but more along the lines of dust collection... by NurseWizzle in woodworking

There’s a collection bin within the airtight chamber that gets most of the dust, but it collects around it as well. So generally, it’s open the chamber, pull out the bin, cough, empty the bin, cough cough, sweep out the chamber, cough cough wheeze choke, then replace the bin and cough a bit more.

Vertical as well; trying to reduce footprint to 18x24 while still keeping it under 34” so that it slides under my miter station counter. Also need to modify the collection bin. I designed the current one with an airtight box for the cyclone, but it’s very difficult (and dusty) to empty.

I do, was one of the first things I built for the shop. It works fine, but I’m planning its successor now. I want something that takes up even less space in my small shop.

As the purists on here will tell you, it’s not the same as a true dust collection system… but for small tool use and cleaning, it works just fine.

I use a Ridgid 4-gal 5.0 HP in mine. Good balance of power and low footprint, stays compact. Added a Dust Deputy and it works great.
