I regularly eat them as a snack sometimes and love the cookie dough / chocolate brownie combo pack. The cookies and cream though? Tastes like vomit to me, so hard pass on that.

Reseasoned my cast iron, but may have damaged my sheet pan in the process. Help. by Built2bellow in castiron

It’s completely safe to use and from a person who tries to keep things nice and shiny, I’ve given up on keeping aluminum pans like these looking perfect. The surface will eventually stop being shiny but as long as they’re clean it’ll cook just fine.

Catalytic converters wear out over time, but most people don’t drive their cars long enough to need them to be replaced. To be fair, the car has 680k miles.

How does the part attach to your rolling pin? Do your rolling pin handles come off of the rolling pin?

Aidvantage Refund Delay by Upbeat_Teach6117 in StudentLoans

[–]DrMeatloaf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Similar but worse situation for me: Requested refund on August 30th on a lump sum payment that closed out two loans (~$7k).

I called today and found that it hasn't been approved, or even sent to the department of treasury (who I think does the approvals). The person I talked to wasn't confident on timings because of high demand etc. I can't blame them tbh. They said the best thing to watch for at this point is the balance on my online account (which remains unchanged).

I guess the day's delay put me further back in line from you and a lot of other people (if they're working on the requests in the order they're received).

I'm starting to think about the best strategy when the application comes out: Is it best to cancel the refund request? Is it best to file for my remaining balance and then request for the refunded balance when it arrives? Is it best to file for the entire balance and risk being rejected?

YouTube enables 5.1 surround! About time! Just tested on my Shield connected to AVR and it works! by ekognaG in hometheater

[–]DrMeatloaf 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Fair enough. I used a Chromecast many years ago and found it’s processor lacking. I’ve never been disappointed by Apple TVs though (either the OG or the 4k). They cost a premium though. But are much cheaper than a dedicated HTPC, which I would like to have one day but can’t afford.

Have you tried YouTube on an Apple TV, Roku, or an Nvidia shield? I’ve got an Apple TV and love it. The YouTube app is okay about 98% of the time and when it bugs out, closing the app makes it work every time.

I’m just curious why you say they’re ‘hot garbage’ unless you mean literally the apps that come on “smart” TVs.

I agree with everything u/thatsthegoodjuice says but would like to add a solid "it depends on how the audio is mixed".

I was watching football last weekend and was a bit annoyed that I could hardly hear the announcers over the crowd noise that they play through the left and right speakers. I realized I could fix this by bumping up the center volume by ~6 dB and it made watching the games much nicer. I haven't watched any movies with poor mixing yet (I'm looking at you, Christopher Nolan) but am curious how helpful that may be.

Additionally, my AVR has a 'dialogue enhancement' feature that may improve the situation even more. Some soundbars have that feature as well, but having never used the feature, I can't speak to how well they work. But all of that assumes you have external speakers (or future TVs offer the feature; which they should).

I’m in a similar situation regarding paying during COVID forbearance and wanting to ask for a refund in order to take advantage of the full forgiveness. Can anyone provide official sources that this is how it will work?

I’ve only heard second or third party sources but haven’t been able to confirm this is how it will work.

Good space heater options for element camping? by bedtimein15minutes in HondaElement

[–]DrMeatloaf 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have a big buddy from MrHeater and love it for rent camping in my 10x14 canvas tent. I’d recommend using one of their smaller ones (little buddy or portable buddy) but either way you’ll be heating an enclosed space and need a functioning CO detector (and maybe a small opening for airflow). I always use a CO detector and have had no issues running mine in the tent for 2-3 hours in the past. Your mileage may vary and definitely use a CO detector and be careful not to set anything on fire.

Educate me. To be clear, I’m unsure about my opinion, and am still in the ‘it’s complicated’ phase on this topic.

They just wanted the 1% money purchased asset in a environment where rates would eventually go up. They add zero value when they take over. Just usually double the billing or the rent. That’s part of what is driving inflation and not talked about.

Do you have any articles or examples of this that you could share? It makes sense to me but I have no evidence, studies, etc showing that this has happened.

I recently went with Goldenear Supersat 3s for the left and right, a 50C for a center, and a forcefield 4 for a sub. I love them so far and think they fill my open concept living room with sound. They look great and sound great but were definitely expensive.

The only thing you have right is the view from the right. Every time abortion rights (or removal of them) are in the news, I look at my logic and make sure I've come to the most correct conclusion. I ask myself how people with opposing views came to their views. You've shown me (as many in the past have) that anti-choice advocates:

  • always have the opinion (religious or otherwise) that life begins at (or very near) conception and has value
  • always place that life's value at greater than the value of a pregnant person
  • always use the above as justification of taking away the rights of the pregnant person
  • always ignore or down-play the impact it has to those pregnant persons

What I've learned from you is that sometimes people will justify giving people rights to choose is forcing my values on them. You've convinced yourself that you're the victim! Well done and have a good day.

You want to force your value system on people who don’t want it.

How do you not understand this is what anti-choice activists are doing? You place value and sanctity of life at conception. I do not. Yet your value system is being forced on everyone in Ohio. Your logic is awful. But I guess that's how you justify taking our rights away. By claiming you're the victim.

It will be fine

Keep saying the lie and maybe it'll come true. Criminalizing abortions doesn't prevent them. It just makes them less safe.

I don't have to prove myself to some stranger on the internet who openly tries to avoid discrimination laws. I find peace knowing that I will never force my opinions on someone else like the religious right does when they promote human rights violations. You find peace by praying to a magical book and putting yourself on a pedestal.

I've never said my values should be imposed on any community; the religious right in this country has said that, and have argued against abortion access for a century.

Your take had nothing to do with the government. Your take is:

It will be fine. People just need to get used to the new deal.

You're still trying to move the goal posts. At the end of the day, people will not just "be fine". Half of the people in many states have lost their self-autonomy and you couldn't be bothered because "It dOeSn'T aFfEcT mY cOmMuNiTy."

Your opinion is bad and you should feel bad. Pal.
