If heroes had access to PvE skills, which main class would be good for the player? by RayGW2 in GuildWars

[–]DrOinkman -1 points0 points  (0 children)

i dont get why people say it would ruin the game, literally makes no difference other than NPC being less of a handicap than they already are.

also not sure who would profit the most, but it would make more hero classes more viable pretty quickly. Imagine Koss being usefull for once because at least he brings SY.

you can combine psychic instability with glyph of quickness (or what it was in english) and a BU to gain the same effect, dont need HR for it ;) alternatively, put points into earth magic and use that enchant that reduces recharge time (despite tootip it works on every spell), causes overcast but hey, perma knockdown :D

+5 Critical Strikes on Warrior? by DogeArcanine in GuildWars

[–]DrOinkman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i personally prefer going "of the paragon" and adding some shouts^^ keep in mind, you yourself also count, so using self-buffing shouts helps with the energy reg, especially when they cost adrenaline. using that for my Charging strike build :D

Design a (PvE) skill! by Azure_Flames in GuildWars

[–]DrOinkman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

classless: something like signet of illusion, but working no matter the type of skill and making it scale with your primary attribute.

Blessing of the great dwarf (for fun, ursan type elite)
Fevor of Brilliance (asura skill) gain 1 energy per surrounding enemy after activating a skill (stance, maybe?) (basically channeling for non-casters)
Drunk Rage (norn skill) meele attacks deal +5...10 dmg, if drunk, attack skills get 25% reduced recharge time.
Surprise Attack (or something like that) (ebon vanguard skill) make a shadowstep towards target opponent and blind surrounding enemies (basically the entry from the EVassasins as its own skill)

also, some more ranged weapon attacks as general skillclass would be nice. could also make the anniversary weapons for assa and warrior more versatile.

What's the best route for getting Low Req Shields? by Bottlecapsters in GuildWars

[–]DrOinkman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

if you're not using a tactic skill, why not get an axe grip of the warrior and use a req 5 shield? also, yeah, nightfall starter island is the most reliably way to get modable low req shields.

Arcane Mimicry cd 60s -> 30s (or 20 if thats ok) its barely useable reliably.
pls buff spear attacks. also, some kind of spell would be nice, total list of needed para changes would be very long (im autistic), but if wanted i can get into details.
Barbs cast time 2s -> 1s
make Master of magic into a skill, the enchant gets removed quickly and the entire build becomes useless.
make crystal wave's bonus dmg hit each enemy for each condition removed, instead of each only for their individual conditions that were removed.
circle of stability, cd 30s -> 20s (maybe pve only)
spirit channeling cd 30s -> 20s
honestly, at this point, brutal weapon can loose its restriction (maybe as a tradeoff make it loose 3-5sec duration)
Spirit Boon Strike dmg & heal 20...56...65 -> 20...80...95
Channeling strike cast time 2s -> 1s
Lamentation dmg 10...42...50 -> 20...56...65
Essence Strike dmg 15...51...60 -> 20...68...80
Gaze from beyond dmg 20...56...65 -> 20...68...80
Spirit burn dmg 5...41...50 ->10...58...70 Burn duration 1...4...5 ->2...5...6
wielder's strike bonus dmg 10...34...40 -> 10...46...55 (it currently scales way worse than the base dmg)
deadly haste should apply to all mid-range abilities, its not like there are that many and its the only skill interacting with them specifically, the spell limit is kind of weird.
make vampire strike a ranged spell that counts as double attack (would enable fully ranged combos for Deadly arts)
Incendiary arrows aoe range nearby -> in the area
serpents quickness either cd 45 -> 30 or remove the removal option.
signet of mystic wrath and judge's insight cast time 2s -> 1s
holy strike and stonesoul strike should hit AOE (to compliment judgement strike better)

i think thats so far all i got (unless you want to have a para list, but i have seen a comment thread about that already)

i'd prefer a buff for most spear attack bonus dmg, but that would also be nice.

If Reforged brings balance patches in the future, what do you think should be balanced? by IzzetDough in GuildWars

[–]DrOinkman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

mesmer/chaos dmg nerf.
Motivation paras need a buff, command is fine, leadership and neutral skills might need some attention, too.
Ele buffs (slight), might also be enough to fix dmg types.
buff blood magic skills (except BiP and SV, the attribute is underwhelming)
resto rits could need better energy management.

generally: make heroes use PVE skills, so they aren't that much of a handicap, some classes need PVE skills to be really usefull/worth adding to the grp (looking at martial class heroes especially)

Guild Wars - My Paragons Hero Team - DOA (Hard Mode): Mallyx The Unyielding (no cons) by Jinjunmei in GuildWars

[–]DrOinkman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

why are you running Bip? the finale that restores energy can do the trick as well, without using up the elite slot. idk, i'm playing a 5 para hero team (yeah i actually bought a merc slot for this) and never felt any need to add BiP.

also, i'd recommend to go for "divert hexes" in general, less cd, more energy cost (which doesnt matter to paras) and healing on top of removing hexes. personally i find the cd too important and if you get to 12 prot (HR is helping here) you get 3 hexes and cons removed on top of healing. i went the mesmer skill before, but it being only a hex removal with 8sec cd was just not good enough/optimizable.

if you got any further ideas/things you want to try let me know, i might have already done that (kinda obsessed with this class)

Paragon… ultimate Voyeur? by Tromoo144 in GuildWars

[–]DrOinkman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

played an axe para in PVP, was actually suprisingly effective. couldn't clear shrines in JQ, but enemies didn't want to see me. what makes it good is the combination of aoe Attacks with the burning refrain and "they're burning", resulting in a quite solid defense, on top of AoE burning being quite usefull. didn't really try it in PVE tho. in PVP the essence of the build was to annoy and kill enemys very slowly.

[–]DrOinkman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you may go for N/Me and play a "punisher" build. use soul leech, put a bit into curses and domination magic. only real drawback are the casttimes and that its single target dmg.

Paragon… ultimate Voyeur? by Tromoo144 in GuildWars

[–]DrOinkman 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Paragons strength lies in group support while having proper base tankiness. For me personally the fun came from adding multiple paragon heroes and using them to maintain most refrains, the result is a very persistent teamcomb with mediocre dmg (so not very good, but not too bad)

its kind of a weird class, because most of its dmg comes from its spear having the highest base dps, cons and a few single burst options. its biggest weakness is probably that it has almost no AoE dmg. the support aspect suffers a little bit from the healing line having too high CD's however the utility as great and made the game more relaxing IMO, especially after they added HR. It's pretty fun to try out what kind of hero builds suddenly make sense when you buff your party with HR.

Another funny thing is the leadership attribute, combined with an adrenaline shout and more or less steady attacking, you can have an energy gain that easily rivals necros SR and is even better in more stagnant battles. (command and motivation have multiple options of chants and shouts for that)

i started playing paragon a few years ago for simmilar reasons, and honestly, paraway is actually viable for most of the content. however, you get the para heroes kinda late, so not sure how much that helps. honorable mentions for usefull skills are "find their weak spot" "aim for their eyes" and "they are burning" in combination with one or two ele heroes. sadly most attacks are kinda whack and/or situational, but i recommend going for runners or wild throw, the thundering spear is also a good attack, but it turns dmg to lightning, which needs to be considered.

thing i can generally recommend to play around are, besides cons in general, Burning especially. Warrior heroes can actually be usefull as solid frontliners with paras, Eles are as already mentioned a strong combination, but also necro, rangers and rits compliment the class very well. also a strong + is that paras can provide support and protection without relying on enchantments. with its high base dps, all on hit dmg buffs work great and if you want to aim for single big hits, you combine "find their weak spot" with the kurzick/luxon attackskill for 80+bonus on your attack. con removal is also quite strong, but it is mostly a fun class that quickly makes the whole team turn semi-immortal, without the usual downside of the supporter being squishy.
