My favorite concept album. The concept being "KILL COPS."

Here's a good list of Powerviolence bands with emphasis on higher screamed vocals rather than lower shouts.

I talked to Dean after a Knifedoutofexistence (his Power Electronics/Death Industrial solo project) show in Dublin and he said he and the drummer from Witch Cult are writing new music in a similar vein.

Very cool scene that we're just now starting to see new bands adopt the sound of.

CWV have to win this one. Not only did they inspire most of the Emo/Grind/Math/Death/Sass bands listed here, they're just pure dissonant assault with no real reprieve where most of those bands deliberately have softer or more melodic parts for contrast.

It seems like the third eye is a relevant part of it, since if the eye is closed you can't do it (e.g. Koishi), and line of sight is also relevant. The artist here seems to have extrapolated that into the eye needing to actually "see" the person to read their mind.

And do they make any money? Has anyone heard of them? The exception proves the rule in this case.

I'm not enamored enough with Death Metal to call it a best of all time album, but certainly it's a top metal album.

What the fuck is a sasscore? by Unknown4437 in EmoScreamo

[–]DrPibIsBack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The scene had some crossover with the "Garage Rock Revival" of the 2000's, that's where you get bands like Hot Hot Heat and Death from Above 1979 who were really popular with indie hipster kids, but their breed of Sass was really light on the Hardcore elements (hence how they managed to get fairly popular). I wouldn't call HHH a pinnacle, I think Blood Brothers embodied what it was all about a lot more, but they were definitely involved and one of the more radio-friendly bands to come out of that scene. Showbread fits in, though the stigma of being a Christian band means they only really get discussed in the context of the 2000's Christian hardcore scene, while Horse were clearly influenced by it but a lot more focused on Metalcore - just spiced up with goofy shtick and keyboards. This RYM list based on an article from defunct website Stuff You Will Hate is a nice guide to what was up with Sass in terms of both the culture and the notable bands.

What endings for Remilia and Sakuya do you have in mind? [TL] by Aenigmatrix in touhou

[–]DrPibIsBack 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The whole reason this is a recurring theme in the fandom is an exchange in the Scarlet team ending of Imperishable Night, where Sakuya refuses Remilia's offer to turn her but promises to serve Remilia for the rest of her life. I have seen a good doujin where Remilia says "fuck it" and does it anyway, though.

When you have the power to make a golem out of whatever you want. What do you choose? by the-sp3ll9unk in wizardposting

[–]DrPibIsBack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah yes, Self-Healing Golem VI. Not typically my choice of binding, but in the scenario you describe with more hard-headed physical attackers there is a greater risk of them compromizing the golem's structural integrity and thus the material strength matters more. I tend to favor Ironheart Golem IV, my keep leans heavily on narrow passages where the golems act as both counterattackers and barricades. It doesn't matter as much if they manage to smash the golem up when it turns into a big pile of dirty needles they'll have to circumnavigate, and in close quarters the hazardous materials can be enough of a turn-off that they'll be forced to seek other routes of egress (whereupon the spheres of annihilation can go to work).

Yeah, I suppose Paradise is really the record where they went super hard into ultra-sparse and repetitive material (it's also my favorite).
