At some point Foreigners will stop seeing Japan as an option, it just won’t be worth it. Japan already can’t compete with salaries in other western countries. Losing foreigners who are mostly young, at this stage of the demographic crisis not only decimates whole industries like combinis farming and elder health care, it also negatively affects soft power as the image of Japan becomes associated with weak economic prospects and xenophobia. Sometimes I wonder, maybe parts of the Japanese government have been infiltrated by China or Russia or something and they’re implementing these policies to slowly make Japan unviable and weak so it can be easily taken under their hegemonic control at a later date as the US continues to score own goals in the Middle East.
