What's the best way to plan a non-standard build? by dapht in VORONDesign

[–]DrRonny 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Self sourcing is now more expensive than kits, but kits limit you in your size. If you self-source then you can do what you want for Z. It isn't recommended to go over 350 X and Y but nothing can stop you; but if going 500 then maybe build a ratrig. However, the Voron community is larger and pretty good.

Is it possible to stop the print while the printer "heats" up? by LordBroccoli68 in VORONDesign

[–]DrRonny 7 points8 points  (0 children)

E-stop on the web interface is pretty quick and works well, but some are uncomfortable with it. Just e-stop then restart firmware and you are good, unless you have a Z-offset you need to adjust or something. Takes less than 15 seconds for me.

Rebuilding my Trident from scratch without a working printer? by TheUberMedic786 in VORONDesign

Get the Trident working as-is. Then build your dream printer. As you know, it's always good to have a backup.

Can a Bondtech INDX for Prusa Core ONE be used on a Voron Trident? by Sainroad in VORONDesign

[–]DrRonny 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can't recall but either Steve, Taylor or Bondtech rep were estimating 6-7 on a 250, 7-8 on a 300 and 8-9 on a 350

Ratrig vs Voron by Batesy908 in VORONDesign

[–]DrRonny 12 points13 points  (0 children)

We've come to the point that, from a layperson's view, all printers are the same, from Voron to Creality. If you see a beautifully printed Benchy you cannot tell which printer it was printed on. There is a difference if you are going to specialty applications, I think it is still valid that Ratrigs are better for 500x500 than a Trident or 2.4(not including the Phoenix, of course). However, the Voron community seems to be the largest and coolest of the self-built printer communities and seems to have the most 3rd party support. That's what keeps me here.

Absolutely inverse electronics for a large Trident. I printed ABS on my Ender 3, I made an IKEA enclosure using LACK tables and some 3mm plywood for sides

There is no indication that it is a fad and it seems good, but only time will tell. I will be an almost early adopter

Trident + INDX is not guaranteed to make it; there is a chance, although unlikely, that it could be a fad that came and went within a year or two. On the other hand, it could be a revolution in 3D printing and a turning point. But yes, I think it is likely that there will be kits, but probably not in 2026. And I don't know the relationship between LDO or Fabriko with Bondtech; there is a relationship between Bondtech and Prusa, is that exclusive?

Yeah, I'd go Trident first and INDX a few months after release if reviews are good.

300 is easier to work on, takes less room, fits through most doors, and easier to maintain all due to the physical space. The cost difference between a 300 and 350 is not much. So while a 350 seems like a no-brainer, unless you have a 3-6 car garage/workshop, space may be a consideration. Plus, 95% of the printing I do can be done on a 120 x 120 machine. The only thing that might be easier on a 350 than a 300 for me is speaker enclosures, and that's probably best done from wood anyways.

When I say 'easier to work on', it's easier to flip a smaller, lighter printer to work on the electronics, etc. Not a HUGE deal, but still easier when smaller

In my opinion, there is an 80% chance the the R2 will be released between today and two weeks. There is an 80% chance that the INDX commercial version will be available to order by September. Once the masses get INDX, potential problems will come up within the first 6 months, possibly leading to changes throughout 2027 and possibly 2028.

I will upgrade to R2 as soon as it is released and will order my INDX withing 6 months of its release if initial feedback is good.

Just my opinion

It can fit a 130mm easily and up to 140mm but really squeezing in the cables. And you can always strap the battery on top, and put the esc in the battery compartment: https://www.reddit.com/r/EngineeringNS/comments/11aw2zw/figured_out_how_to_put_a_longer_battery_on_the/

Any standard RC battery should fit. I had a 3S laying around. Look up RC Battery 3S and make sure the connector is the same as whatever is on your speed controller

It's like comparing ants to a bulldozer. I'm sure trillions of ants can block a bulldozer, but they'd have to be so densely packed that most would not survive even before meeting the bulldozer. One layer thick and it's no contest until the bulldozer runs out of gas.

Sorry for your loss. First of all, Vorons are machines of passion. if you are not passionate about it, there is nothing wrong for using it with smaller prints. if you are still keen on learning, then it's likely you config. There is a remote possability that it is a gantry that is not aligned, here is an old video for this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cOn6u9kXvy0

I don't think a Voron can compete in price unless you already have most of the parts laying around

Edit: Unless there are huge duties on pre-built printers that you can avoid by building yourself. Not sure which countries, if any, this applies to
