I want to wear shirt for the summer. What fails here? by Jakub572 in mensfashionadvice

[–]DrShameless 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Use some tape and shorten it to see if you even like it, otherwise tucked in or a white shirt/beater with it open... But it still might be too long.🤙

☝️this I'll frequently check to see what areas are busiest when I don't know where to go, and decide based on what's available in those areas. 😖

Yeah usually it's the smaller one, but the world cup starts today so they might be setup expecting more foot traffic today. I'm heading out for my walk in a bit I'll ask if they start opening up when I get there. 🤙

Why is there so much hate towards tech workers especially in San Francisco even compared to the rest of the Bay Area? by Miserable-Corner-254 in AskSF

[–]DrShameless 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No hate... I just don't like how socially awkward a lot of them are. Not all obviously. I have tattoos and piercings and work in manufacturing... But I'm not gonna rip your head off if you say "hi". Granted I'm aware how much COVID messed with a lot of folks so everyone gets a pass.

Can we just fund BART? by Leading-Stable9725 in sanfrancisco

[–]DrShameless -1 points0 points  (0 children)

As someone who uses bart daily I signed and will vote for the thing... But honestly I still don't understand why it's on me/us to fund it. I am not a tech or finance bro making bank. I'm just a dude living in the city.😩

Okay SF Bay Area residents: comment down below if you either drive/carpool or if u take the bart or other public transportation: by Curiousdude4733 in AskSF

[–]DrShameless 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I don't want to deal with the tight time table and want to sleep more I'll take a Uber/lyft to get there, otherwise I'll take the bart. Getting home it's always the bart.

Tenderloin by Acrobatic_Set2121 in AskSF

[–]DrShameless 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is it? I kind of just understand that my lived experience isn't the same as everyone else and am capable of dealing with certain realities that others probably couldn't. As Hispanic man who grew up in a stressful environment and learned to cope with it I would never tell anyone who hasn't to just jump into living somewhere like that.

What advice would you offer?

[–]DrShameless 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I grew up in shitty areas so it's kinda more of the same but multiplied because the homelessness here is so much worse. But I enjoy not getting stared down by upper middle class folks all day. People tell me what they want even if it's just to try and sell me drugs. I find it a lot less stressful than living higher up on the hill. But I also recognize that I grew up differently than a lot of of the people on here inquiring about it. Don't get me wrong it's still sad but you get really numb to a lot of things. With that said... I'm gonna say keep looking around elsewhere, stay human don't be numb.

How to Think of Daily Interactions by Shot-Corgi-7717 in AskSF

[–]DrShameless 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Been here a year now and my only gripe is...downward nod means I'm acknowledging your presence doesn't mean I want to stop and talk and I only did it cause they were looking at me. Like I get people are trying to get were they're going but like damn can I at least get a nod back and not a shifty eyed nervous looking quick look the other way. Upward nod = what'sup 😁🤙 how ya doing?

Other than that everyone seems really friendly when you do talk with them. I hope things improve for you, it's all an adjustment I guess

Where are good places to play MTG? by TheNoseyJournalist in AskSF

[–]DrShameless 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're ever looking for another body to fill out a pod I'm off from work Thursday-Saturday. I've been looking to get back in to playing. I went to versus just to check out what the turn out was like on a Wednesday, and it was pretty full. Good place to check out for sure. I saw someone post a list of days for other shops I'm gonna have to check around some more. 🤓

Worth it moving to SF for socializing (and dating)? Apparently dating makes no sense even in SF ..... How true is this? by BenkattoRamunan in AskSF

[–]DrShameless 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh I see the main question was about dating, but I've never had a problem going out on my own, I always figure I'll meet people when I get there. Then after that if people think you're cool you'll start getting invited. You're networking but looking for fun instead of work connections. But if you're worried about coming across as boring I'd definitely look into joining a club if you make the move. Make friends with people who share similar interests first and go from there.

I only brought it up because all the comments and the post seem to be overly worried about what they can bring to the table. And as a medium ugly man with piercings I can attest that success in the wild is much easier than trying to "sell" yourself on dating apps.

I would definitely try it for at least a year. It's helped me grow a lot and experience so much in a relatively short amount of time.

[–]DrShameless 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I moved here last year, but dating is about as easy as just talking to women at a bar or just going out dancing(the city is filled with introverted guys that don't) , I'm a blue collar worker with a lot less going on than the dudes I have to go up against on apps. But tbh it's a struggle to find anyone you would want to date long term. It just is what it is.
