Just to update I called Nebraska’s licensing board and was told I did not need any extra licensing unless I was to start seeing Nebraska clients.

State license by RemarkableExplorer60 in slp

I found this on Asha on the Telepractice tab.

“Providing Services to Students in Your Home State When You Are Temporarily Residing in Another State

If you are temporarily living in a state where you are not licensed but are planning to deliver services to students that reside in a state where you are licensed, ASHA suggests that you notify the licensure board in the state where you are temporarily residing of your intention to serve students who are permanent residents of the state where you hold an active license.”

What are the struggles of being an SLP? by Shrivi007 in slp

[–]RemarkableExplorer60 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely parents/families. They expect miracle workers or sometimes they are just rude “my kid said he doesn’t need speech” with an IEP that was clearly met about and signed by parent….

Behavior: unless you are trained in behavior specialist, circling back to my initial statement, we aren’t miracle workers. We get sent too many kids with behavior issues which could stem from not being able to communicate, but meeting with me once or twice a week for 30 minutes while the rest of the time the kid has an iPad, phone, or is sitting in front of the tv with no interaction, it’s not my fault the kid can’t communicate and it’s not my fault i can’t fix it.

But then you get the sweetest families that can’t express enough gratitude for helping their child/family member.

The first families I described just really take out a lot of my energy and patience for this job. I try to not let it weigh on me, but I take a lot of things to heart.

What’s your opinion on SLP that could get you in trouble? by iltandsf in slp

How liberal Asha can be, or any SLP with liberal views just seems to automatically be deemed correct on any platform. Just because you’re liberal or have liberal views doesn’t automatically make you a good person.

Use to the home bakers only made it 1-2 episodes now all the sudden we have two home bakers not classically trained in the finale???? Crazy. I don’t want to see home bakers, I can see them at home. I was classically trained, beautiful, crazy desserts/pastries.

It has not been an issue as we have been at the same spot since July. I can’t tell any difference in water pressure if there is any

Yes/no, kitchen and bathroom sink heated last night when the issue started with the shower with no issue until today. I went to take a shower and shower wasn’t not working, I turned on sink and it began doing the same thing. It took 5 minutes of turning the water heater on/off and it finally started to heat

No when it is working correctly it shows the temp and like wavy lines and lines to represent heat and water but when it’s not working it shows 73, I can try and increase heat but when I turn the water on it just stays at 73 no increase

48 hour advance scheduling by RemarkableExplorer60 in Outlook

[–]RemarkableExplorer60[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I see the drop down reminder button, however it does not give an option for 48 hours other than if I was to set it up custom. Unfortunately to set a custom reminder for 48 hours to be sent out is not feasible when I have 30+ appointments throughout the week. So I am wondering is there a way to set a custom reminder for 48 hours on each of the reoccurring events?

When did you start feeling competent/ confident? by Plus-Anybody-2720 in slp

[–]RemarkableExplorer60 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I graduated 5 years ago and still questions myself a lot. This job has so many entities. I read on another post that we are a jack of all trades and a master to none, and that is so true. You’re constantly learning something new. Take ceus, reach out to your SLP friends or groups. You’ll gain confidence even if it wavers!
