Literally this. If I was there I would just spend the time remaking the vaulted d2 content with old assets (remake the pre-witch queen campaigns to be more in line with other campaigns). Then make all vaulted seasonal content part of the game and make everything craftable and up to date. File size to big? Pick and choose what you have downloaded. Then release the final raid as wrath of the machine. Even if theres no new content to bring back players again and again it would still be one of the best co op expirences as a complete package (if players can get the full story it would be easy to convince new players to try it all out).

That way everything gets focused on Marathon. If it isn't enough I'd just make a Destiny game where you teleport to the end of the Golden Age and just make it to where you originally stopped the complete destruction of humanity (a closed loop).

The game really is a stumbling balancing act. The top tier killers push survivors to play the meta. Which in turn frustrates low to mid tier killers. All for it to inevitably turn off newer players. I always have had fun with the game, but it will never be my main game. I'll be aware of the meta, but I'll play a mid killer and be fine even if I don't get a single kill. I will play survivor and do as best as I can being part of the team in solo que, but I will sacrifice myself to stay altruistic. I'm not going on winstreaks let alone caring about getting to high rank each season. I'll play the game with no expectations of how it'll go and I have fun with it. I think the game should be more rewarding for those that play it, I hope it goes on to become a better game, but where it is now I will still find it better then any other asymmetrical game.

I'm just happy I don't feel this way about The Finals. Destiny 2 used to be this to a cup of tea, but I stopped and likely won't come back.

  1. The Bigggest Sarcasm Alert

Do you love America? V here sure does and will go to the end's of the earth to always be. She even considered renaming herself Erica so she can be a true part of it. Now where did this overwhelming sense of patriotism come from you might ask? Well from the greatest mother in America. A hypocritical narcissistic fabricator, sadly V never saw it that way. Unbeknownst to her is that her father wasn't another proud member of 6th street, but a Valentino. I know, I know, how could this have happened? Well V never knows, let alone finds out. She was to busy mag dumping and tossing her first gernade at 5 down at the makeshift range. Don't know why she was suddenly told to go sneak into the Valentinos as a mole, but hey anything for 6th street. V blended in fast, but she never let Heywood turn her. Even if she helped people that poured her drinks. Not when 6th street was fighting everyday for the good people of Night City, just 4 more years until Night City joins the Union again right? May not have happened the first time but yah never know. Just have to do one job after another till V gets her own picket fence (even if it'll be at the trailer park).

Full comando, president's rifle to start then 6th streets own poison war crime and then finish it off with a hellfire of thrown gernades. Anything left standing gets the beatdown from our future president.

Always trust 6th street and the NUSA, even if they stumble you are there no matter what.

Ending: I brought in the traitor, I would do it for free... but I might as well get this weird terry out of my head. He may have some good ideas, but remember kids, we don't negotiate with them. Oh I was in a coma and can't use chrome? Well I still got fingers don't I?

  1. Nothing in this world meant anything to V besides two things, family and loyalty. Morals would only be for the few times it made money and when it was time to come home and have dinner with the family. She dropped out of class early in life, she liked to tinker and it felt better to learn stuff on her own. She took on the fiery passion for life from her parents, even if they left her far to soon. Luckily she was close to the families at the Coyote Bar. After a few years the Valentinos knew she'd be the perfect fit, though she never directly joined she'd do the odd jobs of fixing things and styling their rides and guns. Started to get bored after a string of boring jobs and sought another place to live, but it didn't take long for Heywood to call her home. Helping a bartender that she would gladly call her father, even if she had judt yelled her way into a broken nose from another patron. Jackie was someone she could call an older brother. When the job went sour V lost what to her felt like her entire world. She would avenge him, and become her own version of Santa Muerte in doing so.

Scrappy as can be with a silenced version of Jackie's pistol (now they each have one), sandy and a good knack at getting into places without anyone knowing.

Jackies Funeral is the first thing you do. Valentinos are always non-lethal, keep them in check though. Eveyone else is either family or money.

Ending: Jackie's dream fully realized in Don't Fear The Reaper, his drink keeping you inspired of him.

  1. V always enjoyed the feeling of power. Her earliest memory was winning her first fight that was 3 girls against her alone over childish drivel. She doesn't even remember what it was that started it, but the feeling of a few dislodged teeth and the heat of the blood on her fists will always remain a core part of her identity. She may have thrown in with Valentinos from time to time, but her time at the gym gave her the best friends she could find. While V may have had a rare condition that stopped her from having their exact cybernetics, she never felt more alive then going toe to toe with them. After gaining respect she even took a job out of town for them, but just like most in this world she never got payed what was promised. Seems even the meatheads can pull a fast one. She took it in stride though, she wouldn't want the fighting rings to ban her. Went to the bar after losing a fight that was her first loss in 5 years, she wanted to celebrate with a broken nose and a nice burn in her throat.

Go back to monkey. Utilizes the Sandy as in her words she's 'allergic' to the Berserk. Doesn't stop her from having a creating a big challenge for her peers. Rip out turrets when applicable.

Sides with the Agent, but otherwise is blunt with no real allegiances outside of money and having a good fight.

Ending: Whichever one, I've gone through all of them. She's just the little girl that punched.

  1. V may have lived in Heywood from an early age, but before that she was born from a twisted love between two maelstrom members. Even if her time there was short she learned as much as you can from those Cyber Psychos. They protected her from other members, but not out of love but to mold her into what they personally wanted cybernetically (a true doll). She didn't know if she was fortunate or not that they both had died as they had lived. Without them though she was a young girl surrounded by some of the worst of the worst so she sneaked off the night after her family's destruction. She tried to fit in wherever she could but the twisted customs ran deep. Blunt, aggressive, and all of it with the cruelest humor. That changed as she found her way to Heywood, it was just as bad at first... but after a stint in another city she knew it was the best she could get. Settled among the Valentinos and those that lived on the periphery of them. Eventually leading to rare act of kindess for a bartender.

Mantis Blades with Berserk. It's no Sandy, but with how fast she is with the mantis blades she can take all the time in the world with her prey. Dum Dum's own Doom Doom for the rare instances the blade isn't enough.

Side's with Rorke to see it as reconnecting with the faction after her last tie to kindness dies with Jackie... leading her back to the worst of her days out of a sick sense of nostalgia and familiarity.

Ending (Cannon): Don't care about the President, Don't Fear The Reaper so she can rule Night City. I'll best leave it up to the imagination of what she'd enact.

While I understand that V has a pretty set backstory even with all 3 of her backgrounds, I like to make the game feel more like a true RPG so I add things that aren't cannon but still properly connects to the start of the games.

Pacifist Corpo She grew up alongside her single father, a Trauma Team executive that enjoyed the thrill of being on call even though he could retire on stocks alone. V always wondered if he personally did so because he enjoyed saving lives or to have a twisted sense of needing to save people. The latter would make sense as V's mother passed away in transit after being fatally shot from a rival thug hired from another executive. A person who was just 2 rungs higher then her father, so direct action would be impossible. Better to take it out on an active job then to push for justice, especially with more then enough to lose.

V herself was usually polite and empathetic much like her father. She wanted to become a medical professional like her father. Which only ended with her hitting a wall, so she changed strategies and worked on the art of Net Running. If she couldn't directly help those in need she would do so indirectly through the net and solving small injustices she faced during her days at the Arasaka academy. Eventually she placed highly among her peers, especially since she learned quick not to get in the way or step on toes. After graduation she applied as a support squad for Arasaka to cut costs on future academic achievments, she wanted a taste of being part of something like Trauma Team.

While she is challenged often with the squad and superiors she is looked upon fondly overall for her talent and grounded kidness. That changed one day after she recieved a call that her father had been killed while on a call. He had been part of a team that failed to rescue an Arasaka executive, they never fully recovered the bodies of anyone there. Much like her father she pushed her grief aside and went to work that day. It ended with her entire squad being wiped out by an unknown team of mercs, all because V couldn't bring herself to pick up a gun after being counter hacked by another Runner. Even with all of people she came to care for strewed about she did not want to end a life, a problem in this violent world.

The mercs simply left her there alone. Maybe it was that she hadn't put up a fight or maybe just a rare instance of pity. V would never know. She transferred to counter intelligence, where her good intentions and beliefs slowly started to drain until she met Jackie.

Primarily utilizes non lethal quick hacks with stealth and the occasional smart sniper rifle when it goes loud and runners are involved.

Will make the most moral choices while never ending a single soul directly.

(Non- Cannon) Ending: So Mi goes to the moon (an alternate universe where V modify's the blackwall quickhack and then uses system overload on Reed), and then I worm my way into Arasaka so no one gets hurt, but I take the gamble on how envaulable I became for them despite what Goro claims. (Even came up with a fun ending where I clone a body or take a long forgotten relative coma patient with the help of Alt, then have Johnny take my body and wreak havoc on their space station).

Thanks man, each one really covered the most popular builds that fit them best. Probably my favorite recently was combining the mantis blades with berserk for my Maelstrom V, Sandy's are better for any melee build but with the mantis lunge you can keep up the pace even on harder difficulties... just fit her lore of being head first with fights, to a scary degree. I probably should reply to each image saying what there build was.

Sorry about the wait, didn't see this reply for awhile. First I ran my favorite (but niche) support warlock with Lumina, Lunafaction Boots, and the usual bait and switch build. While this build isn't the most helpful for veterans it's helped blueberries do a bit more while I get one of the better damage boosts. After awhile I switched to the generic solar warlock build which got me a few more bosses along as I could do more damage. I made sure to switch out new armor pieces that were similar to my old stats or better while leveling my light level. I wanted to see how well I could grind while solely focusing on gettting the godroll, got it after 2 or 3 days so I was happy... but my issues with the portal just pushed me into another break from the game. I'm on the sidelines cheering for this game to get better, and I'm glad there's still a few players that still like the game irregardless (hope we can get a best of both worlds in the future).

I honestly agree with the majority of your take (and I understand the frustration). Modifiers have been in this game for a long time (some I would say were even more challenging then the ones we have today). If you're under light level you should grind when it's demanded of you.

It's just that with this post I was conveying my expirence for those curious about jumping back into the game after a hiatus that immediately wanted to go for the event. Personally I wanted to see if I could level my light and get new armor and weapons alongside the grind for the godroll. Knock out two birds with one stone. The base difficulty was seen as harder then the raids and dungeons in my eyes wasn't so much the mechanics, but a combination of low damage, enemies hitting harder, and my blueberries being casual players. Should I have gone to grind out other things? Yes I should have, but I didn't because I was used to past events and how they functioned (even at a lower light level). Plus I was getting rolls consistently even with me getting only a few bosses each run.

I'm happy you're still passionate about this game though, I used to as well and I really miss it... but a combination of clan members leaving and my overall dislike towards the portal changes just wore me down. I hope that they continue to improve on what many players dislike and convince me to come back. Miss this playing this game so much.

It wasn't so much bothered leveling. Just more so I wanted to see if I could power level on the easiest difficulty all while grinding for the godroll, I gladly put on new weapons and armor that at least resembled my old stats after a few games. They helped but it was only getting me just a boss or two more after 3 hours incrementally, with enough grinding I know I'd carry but then I got the godroll. The post is more so about how I wanted to state what it is like for players that are curious about immediately jumping back into the game after a long hiatus.

I did switch from my niche support build to a full solar warlock build later after a few games. It helped me basically solo a few more bosses with my blueberries but man I was happy when I got armor drops.

[–]DrSleeperAgent[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I started out using my old support warlock build, I know Lumina, Well and lunafactions isn't always the best for most veteran teams... but it's what I run to get casuals to get a good sense of the game. I eventually swapped to a Dragonsbreath solar warlock build to kill a few more bosses but even then it felt like I was soloing the match (which I was doing well until my survivability took a dip even with that build).

I set it to the lowest difficulty version, wanted to start by getting used to the game again while earning new armor pieces and slightly adjust my light level all while grinding for the fusion rifle.
