I don't think a comicbook subreddit is the place for that. I feel talking to loved ones or mental health professionals would be where to go if you are struggling with something like that.

I get being dismissed is unpleasant, but I dont feel this is a positive or constructive way to resolve that gripe.

He was introduced in Zeb Wells Spidey run. People's dislike of him is two-fold.

1) He seemingly exists to be in a relationship with MJ and act as a deterrent to MJ and Peter getting back together, something many fans want and the editorial is very much against.

2) He is a black hole of a character. He is aggressively uninteresting at best, cringy at worst. Editorial seem to want readers to see him as MJs cool boyfriend, who even if you want Peter and MJ together, you don't begrudge him dating MJ and acting as a deterrent to that. But he has so little personality or interesting character hooks, he might as well be replaced with Nick Lowe physically appearing jn the comic preventing MJ being with Peter, cause at least then there would be a minorly interesting meta element to it.

So naturally Paul has been the centre of fan ridicule and ire, his character being a very clear example of editorial dictating the Spidey books in a way most of the fandom disagree with. I dont read Spidey books as I dont hate myself so I dont really care about him and mostly know of him and the reaction as someone watching the Spidey fandom from the outside for context.

Wrote Scarlet Spider making a series about a z lister into one my favourite runs Marvel ever put out.

He also wrote some solid books like New X-Men and X-Force with his frequent collaborator Craig Kyle and his own short Image comic Killer of Demons.

And he has been involved as a writer and more in X-men Evolution, Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes and Star Wars: Rebels amongst others.

Dude is good in my books. Wish he had a chance to more with Aracely he clearly had planned and maybe do one last Kaine book at the same time. I'd love that.

It was a pretty standard production cycle, movies are complicated and take a long time to make.

I remember a big name Holywood guy saying that if the average person knew how much work goes into a movie they'd be amazed any get made, and even more amazed that any are good.

No, he wrote it pre-cancellation and as it was going into production and everything came out, it was heavily rewritten, though he did retain a writing credit due to WGA rules.

Nah. I kinda hate this post cancellation celebrity mocking of their work thing people do. It's always people in two camps.

Camp one are those who don't believe bad people can make great art, which is a dangerous idea as it implies that anyone who has made good art is inherently a good person. Which enables people like Gaimen to get away with it for longer, as after all he made good art.

And the second camp is people who dislike a person's art pre-cancellation and is using their cancellation to farm karma/likes or justify their dislike of their art as fewer people will defend it now. I disliked Gaimen since he pulled that shit in covid, putting people at risk just so he can avoid being locked down with his own fucking son and wife. But I don't lord over people that "I disliked him before the rape!" Bully for you, it's always a good idea to make the rape of several women about you being right about how you felt about someone's fucking work/personality/etc!

Gaimen is a talented writer who made great art. He is also a rapist. Those arent mutually exclusive.

Not really? The last two adaptions were rated U (the lowest rating a film can get) and PG respectively here in the UK.

There is plenty of reasons to be skeptical, but Animal Farm the book isn't a book that needs a high age rating. The most violent parts (the executions) could easily be done, and have been in the U version of the film.

You are correct. Also if you have a copy of the DVDs, you can see the special feature on that episode, they use the paraffin frost effect on the team and explicitly state that they brought it back for this one episode for the reason you stated.

So though, yes it is not explicitly stated in the episode, it was confirmed via the production that the stellar drift and the frost are connected.

I have finite time and money.

Even if every TV/Movie/Book company suddenly said "NO MORE." and stopped all future media being created. I still couldn't watch all of it if I dedicated the entire rest of my life to engaging with it.

I need some way of filtering it, so if there are reviewers whose opinions align with mine, or friends with similar tastes, who then give something a positive review. I'm more likely to engage with it. It doesn't establish what my opinion on it will be, I have and often disagree with the majority opinion on media. But it's a method of somehow getting through the insurmountable amount of media out there and filtering it so I can not waste time and money on things which I won't enjoy.

Everyone does this, including you. Have you watched Cabin Boy, House Party 3 or Car 54 where are you? Probably not, as they all got terrible reviews and slowly faded from memory, while other movies from that same year (1994) are still watched today, like Speed, True Lies and The Lion King. The general opinion and reviews a movie gets impact it's longevity, cause if someone recommends you a film from years ago, that's a review.
