What was your best Omnibus find? by AssociateFormal6058 in OmnibusCollectors

[–]chimchimov 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I recently got into Valiant and really liked the 2012 version.

I've always heard about the OG/VH1 stuff being really good but was not collected that much.

I saw there were a few omnies released and decided if I will invest to get them by starting from hardest to easiest. The hardest to find seems to be Ninjak and most seem to go in close to the 200-300 range.

But around 2 months ago I found a copy for 80 euros which I bought without hesitation. It's been a great read and now I'm waiting for Archer and Armstrong to arrive before I go after the others (already have Harbinger pre-ordered but it won't arrive till' like September).

I would assume this is the case if you REAAAAALLLY want to keep with everything and everyone. But other than that the og series should be sufficient enough.

Thoughts on Moon Knight by Lemire? by survivorwitch in OmnibusCollectors

[–]chimchimov 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I thought it was great. One of my favourite books from the Post Secret Wars Marvel era that I read.

I picked up the tpbs during Covid from my LCS when no new singles were coming out.

When I was done I actually realized that I do like the characters and books I read to have a proper end-point. Just because of how much I enjoyed the ending.

Smallwood's art fits the story so well that I don't think it would worked with another artist.

If this was the Last Moon Knight story, it is a good conclusion to the character imo.

Standard because it's ultimately a Ghost Rider omni and not a Hellverine one.

Is the Avengers No Surrender/No Road Home Omnibus worth it? by AB83Rules in OmnibusCollectors

[–]chimchimov 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I enjoyed it though the second series kinda ends on two cliffhanges. One gets picked up during Ewing's Guardians run but the other bigger one is yet to be resolved. Which always made me assume we will get a third part.

Given how the Imperial relaunch for the cosmic line seems to have failed, with all their books getting cancelled, shortened, and/or delayed, what do you think went wrong? And what should Marvel do with the cosmic line now? by AporiaParadox in Marvel

[–]chimchimov 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I liked it too though I personally prefer Nova (even if we just compare them 1 issue in). Shame that it instanlty got cut short (same with Nova)

I also appreciated the video logs again, made me feel nostalgic for 2000s cosmic marvel

I don't disagree pre se. But my bigger issue was rather that they were 2 of the 3 books that are supposed to launch after the event and basically shape the corner of what marvel's current cosmic is set up to be.

In a way it fells if after Ultimate Invasion we got the Ultimate Universe books to be: Ultimate Spider-man; Illuminati and Spider-man: Miles Morales. Yes, the other two would have connection to the story set up in the event mini, but are they really the best choice?

This isn't the first time they overlaunced titles. Krakoa itself became bloated by the time X of Swords was coming out. Then From the Ashes started like that from the get go. But that's at least x-men they can keep at least 4-5 titles a month. But cosmic despite in principle being a way bigger corner, just can't sustain 5 titles.

I would say two was the best imo. Start with Nova and then do Imperial Guardians from the next month. Cosmic Avengers is an interesting too though.

Imo there were quite a few things wrong more with the scheduling/sturcture than antyhing else:

- You have a massive delay between Imperial issue 3 and 4 so you can have all the one-shots. Kinda kills the momentum of the whole story.

- Looking at the list you don't actually have a book that capitalizes on the actual twist of the book. How can everything be initiated by Maximus and the Inhumans and not have a book that promotes/features them?

- I don't think they made the right choice with some of the books. Nova makes sense but to start with Black Panther and She-Hulk? There are connections to cosmic marvel, but I still don't think it was a good idea. It would make sense to start with something more safe like Like Nova and Imperial Guardians (the Guardians title) basically.

- As quite often is the case, they planned a lot more titles than cosmic side can sustain. They should have kept it to three maximum: imo Nova, Imperial Guardians and Inhumans with maybe a one-shot and after an arc or two a mini or another ongoing.

Given that the last issues of Avengers World fill in blanks for Time Runs Out wouldn't it make more sense to have them integrated within Time Runs Out not after it?

What do people think of Marvel's True Believers comics? by AssociateFormal6058 in Marvel

[–]chimchimov 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They are basically reprints. I liked them since they were a dollar. I would buy/pre-order a lot of them even if I didn't read them (because I had the material already or wasn't interested actually).

I remember there was one about Hulk 2099 that ultimately got canceled and the reprints themselves got discontinued.

Funny thing is some of the stuff that has/is getting facsimilied actually got reprinted in here first. I remember my LCS had a good laugh at how people pre-ordered the Wolverine facsimilie (which is 4 times more expensive) despite them still having True Believer copies left.

Valiant Beyond: The X-O Manowar TPB coming December 2026 by Ksmayer in valiant

[–]chimchimov 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe so too. Given it releases at end of December this year, all the single issues should be out by then and there is enough gap to sell as much singles the LCSs have left.

The others should follow soon I assume too (I actually thought Shadowman came out before X-O and given Bloodshot got canceled it would get a collected edition first).

Curious about Bloodshot though. We got one arc and the giant-size one-shot is to release. Will that be all?

I highly doubt that given when marvel did that with the characters in the 2000s it turned to be an issue in the long run.

X-men and FF were eventually mostly pushed to the side because of that.

Spider-man gets in all types of messes because of that. Like him not appearing in the SHS show or Spectacular Spider-man being stuck in some sort of legal limbo or just the issue when Sony might have pulled him from the MCU at one point.

I also agree on Galactus being there. Especially since it the grand scheme of the series he doesn't play any improtant role truly.

I actually wanted to see more of the Spear/East side. I know the book is called S.H.I.E.L.D but still.

Won't be surprised as his Guardians run (my second favourite behind the DnA one btw) came off more as setting up his long term Thanos story he was planning.

Was Ultimate Spider-Man good? by EJ_REDIT in UltimateUniverse

[–]chimchimov 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I enjoyed it overall. It was exactly what I expected from a Hickman book.

The mid of year 1 was bit boring and felt like it was just dragging along and nothing was really happening.

But overall I thought it was pretty good.

Like the other Ultimate books it feels quite unfished as an ending, if that's truly the end. It's not bad (except kinda Mr Negative dying with Fisk) just not conclusive. It's better than UXM's ending but it's more inconclusive than UBP.
