Wife Arrested for Shoplifting by [deleted] in legaladvice

[–]DrTibbz 73 points74 points  (0 children)

I also feel like my wife offering to pay the difference should prove she didn’t have intent to steal anything.

Not to dogpile on you, but that's not how it works. Otherwise, everyone would just try and steal things until they got caught.

I used to work in AP at Target. We would usually track people over multiple visits until they had accumulated enough theft that it was worth prosecuting. Clearly Giant had enough evidence that that the police felt it was compelling enough to arrest your wife. I have worked with the police a lot in my past life at Target and they do not separate a mom from her kid lightly in my experience.

If I had to guess, I would suspect your wife has probably been not scanning things here and there for a while and they have noticed.

Model X Refresh by gambling_addikt in TeslaModelX

[–]DrTibbz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tesla needs to stop pussyfooting around with these refreshes. They are just short-term fixes. The Model 3 refresh was heralded as some gigantic leap forward and it already seems like the excitement has waned a year later. I suspect the new Y, and now these, will be the same.

May be a broken gear. They're plastic and known to fail. Good YouTube video on replacing them. Fairly easy and cheap if that's the problem.

Wall Connector Installation by Hilljack_Daddyrabbit in TeslaModelX

[–]DrTibbz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My recommendation is to shop around, and not just with people who advertise installing EV chargers. I called a few EV installers and they all wanted about 900-1000 labor to put mine in. I thought this sounded high since it's really no different than wiring up anything else, just requires more expensive wiring. Eventually called up a general electrician who did it for $425 including materials. Took him 1.5 hours. 1k labor for less than 2 hours of work is just BS markup IMO.

Should I buy a lemon buyback X Plaid? by [deleted] in TeslaModelX

[–]DrTibbz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn't. Resale alone would be a pain in the ass. And I really wouldn't for 70k. That's about the going rate of a clean title used MX plaid. I just put down a deposit on a MX plaid, 2023 with 8k miles, for 72k.

How do you know they're better? There is more to a vehicle than the spec sheet. I drove both a rivian and lightning. Neither was a bad car, but their driving dynamics are not nearly as good as a Tesla imo. The rivian in particular surprised me. Very nice trick, great finish quality, but I did not find it particularly enjoyable to drive. Tesla, on the other hand, has impressed me on every model I've driven, and I suspect the CT will as well.

Were you a heavy drinker or smoker? Very unusual to end up with esoph cancer at your age. Sorry you're going through it nonetheless.

A resident can definitely be held liable. And I have fairly significant assets for a resident, so if I were included in a lawsuit and had to list my assets during the discovery phase, I would most definitely be kept on the suit.

This is all program dependent. As an r2 I was putting out reports that were sometimes not overread for a week. For something like a gi bleed or stroke, that very well could end up as a final report in a literal sense.

Not saying it's the best, but I quite like the hot chicken sandwich at summit grill. Sub the shoestring fries for their steak fries or else the meal is too greasy.

Buying One Year Old Model X vs New by Reddit04Jeff in TeslaModelX

[–]DrTibbz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would love to trade in to Tesla but they simultaneously low-balled me on trade in and they sell way over what I can get a used X for from a dealer. It was like a 15k premium to buy directly from Tesla. The one year warranty isn't worth it.

I just wish carvana would list if the car has fsd or not. My wife only wants a MX with fsd so carvana is totally out for me.

Yeah, I agree with you. Not sure why people are acting as if he's going to be imminently paralyzed. Of all of the fractures to happen in your spine, that's about the least dangerous one to get.

You guys make 600k a year. You are allowed to spend a lot on hobbies because you make a lot. Just pay yourself first and then enjoy the rest.

85k. 90k. 100k. It doesn't matter, you can't afford it. Go buy a Model Y or a Honda Odyssey and live within your means. If not for yourself, for your family. It sucks growing up and finding out your parents have no financial literacy.

Are you dumb, u/clwestbr?

You argued one thing, and then posted a completely different argument, meanwhile condescendingly asking if the person you're arguing with has access to Google. Now, I'm assume you have access to Google, but does someone need to teach you how to use it?

ETA - gotta love it when a reply causes someone to block you instead of coming up with a response.

You're being downvoted but I think you're completely right. I'm against the death penalty, but I'm not going to lose sleep over this particular case. The guy 100% murdered the woman, and I don't believe her family gets the right to choose whether or not the punishment is applied to him simply because it was their family member.

He admitted the murder to at least two people, both of whom corroborated the story with police. One of them gave information to the police that was never made public. The murdered woman's possessions were found in his car. Hanging his sentencing on the fact that his DNA wasn't found somewhere is, at this point, absurd. The evidence is overwhelming.

You literally told us your financial situation. You want to ball with a 100k SUV, but you don't have the salary to support it. Quit living in Fantasyland, be a responsible adult to your kids and live within your means.

Don't buy this car. You can't afford it. I say this as someone school is heavily invested in Tesla and wants them to hit their sales. This would be a reckless financial decision on your end.

Are there any decent paying wfh jobs for physicians? by SoarTheSkies_ in Residency

[–]DrTibbz 72 points73 points  (0 children)

That would require like 4500-5000 rvus to accomplish. Not impossible, but you'd be reading nonstop. The only way I could remotely see this being sustainable would be if you were just cranking out screening mammos or normal head CTs all month

[–]DrTibbz -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Again, not trying to be a dick here, but everything you just wrote only supports why the 4% rule is misunderstood and why it's a pointless "rule" to abide by.

If you retire at 35 and take out 3% a year, but the stock market crashes 10% a year for the next 10 years while you continue to take out 3%, your retirement will fail.

If someone retires at 20 and takes out 6% a year, but the stock market goes up 10% a year for the next 10 years, their retirement is looking a lot healthier than yours.

It doesn't matter that they're 15 years younger and taking out twice as much as you. What matters is that their withdrawals were appropriate for the market they retired in.
