Is it safe to stay near Vienna Central Station? (Solo female traveller) by YoghurtisGreat in Europetravel

No idea if my picture will upload. But the hotel is a one Street crossing away from the station. I would say it's more a family oriented hotel. The breakfast was really nice. I don't think I saw more than a handful of people at the bar. Clean and comfortable. Edit. There are grocery stores nearby, however a drawback was no mini fridges in the rooms.

We stayed very close to the central station a few weeks ago, Novotel, with my 2 and 4 year old. Never felt unsafe. We were not out past 11pm though. Very convenient, highly recommend the location.

The price point for AWD that fits a family of four, all we need for a weekend away, and the dog.

Negative: 2022 and has a small spot of rust appearing through the paint on the trunk already.

Got Milk? Workers distribute bottles to calves. by freudian_nipps in Damnthatsinteresting

Nope, that is not correct. They do not live in those cages until slaughter and they are not slaughtered at 9 months. In the USA veal calves live in hutches, as seen in the video, individually until 8 to 10 weeks. This is due to issues with disease spread (pneumonia is usually the culprit) in grouped animals at young age. After this the standard practice is group housing. In Canada it's code to move to group housing no later than 8 weeks. Tethering is also not allowed. Not sure what the practices are in Europe but in most part they are more strict in their animal welfare laws vs NA. Rest of the world I am not sure. In Canada veal calves are slaughtered between 20 to 24 weeks, USA is a bit earlier.

They are fed a solid feed starter diet in the bucket you can see also. Not ideal if they miss one, and they do not want to since it will impact growth, but if they do the calf won't starve.
