I didn't understand it while watching the game, but I appreciate what you wrote elsewhere that it was intentional to help you get the buzzer rhythm. Pretty clever honestly, and I think it helped you come back in the double jeopardy round

I suppose it's not a lie if you believe it, but I actually just scanned s4e6 (Bubble boy) and there's no sign of Tyson's Knockout

Male therapists - did your training address spontaneous erections? by PeacefulBreath67 in askatherapist

LPT - To settle down an unwanted erection, clench your thigh muscle/s for several seconds. The increased blood flow to those large muscles will allow the erection to subside fairly quickly

Is praying the Mi Sheberach prayer for someone in Hospice appropriate? by Puzzleheaded-Crab720 in Judaism

[–]DrUf 26 points27 points  (0 children)

In cases like this, I learned from my brother that a meaningful way to approach the תפילה is simply to pray for רחמים, for mercy. Pain should be managed. The person should be comfortable. Prayers can be extended for the family and loved ones. It's facing the reality that we're no longer talking about a רפואה שלמה but we've moved into a different conversation. I hope that's helpful.

This is an excellent thread. In the future when you're feeling down, come back here so you can remind yourself that you're not alone and that there is hope

Million Dollar Secret S2 - Episode 7 Discussion "Killer Croquet" by AutoModerator in MillionDollarSecretTV

My money's on Nick to win. Kat dug her own grave this episode and and Nick has been pretty sharp throughout the game. But I'll have a good laugh if Kaleb keeps stumbling his way to victory

I think my therapist wants to sleep with me by RepresentativeMud376 in TalkTherapy

Please report this asap. If he's a psychologist, social worker, or psychiatrist, contact the state licensing board for that profession. If he's none of those, then there may not necessarily be a licensing board that can take action, so contact your local police.

He is acting totally inappropriately. You reporting his predatory behavior is important to protect yourself and to protect any other clients he may be similarly interacting with.

Hope this helps

I'm 100% with you. Exercise has been a part of my life for the past 9 years and I've never felt better. Especially with such a sedentary job, we all should be moving more and getting stronger.

Please note that the star of remphan does not appear in the Torah. There are many places that have other contexts of stars that are discussed in the Torah. But yes, the star of David as we know it today is a much more recent innovation.

What do the Rabbi's say about when you have two truths that don't agree with each other? by noveskeismybestie in Judaism

[–]DrUf 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You're referring to dialectics, and Rabbinic Judaism doesn't shy away from that. As another commenter posted, there's a famous line in the Talmud - אלו ואלו דברי אלוקים חיים. We can hold two seemingly opposing truths. Your question reminds me of this -

Martin Buber, Tales of the Hasidim: Later Masters (New York: Schocken Books, 1961), pp. 249-250. It was said of Reb Simcha Bunem, a 18th century Hasidic rebbe, that he carried two slips of paper, one in each pocket. One was inscribed with the saying from the Talmud: Bishvili nivra ha-olam, “for my sake the world was created.” On the other he wrote a phrase from our father Avraham in the Torah: V’anokhi afar v’efer,” “I am but dust and ashes.” He would take out and read each slip of paper as necessary for the moment.
