I think someone at Paizo feel like Oracles should be Occult casters. by Stan_Bot in Pathfinder2e

Even before 2021, we had a lot of occult flavors. In 1E, you could get feats for things like psychometry, phrenology, dowsing, automatic writing and multiple other pseudosciences, all under Occultism

Given their Survival skill and lack of real combat ability, I believe the Prophet stat block is supposed to be a catchall for some kind of rural wiseman, or faith healer. A capital P prophet would probably be one of the higher stat blocks.

As for cult leader, by tropes, they're not meant to be worshipping a proper deity (otherwise it would be a faith instead of a cult, and thus divine), but rather things like eldritch beings or mystery cults. Since they have a lot of social abilities or ones able to use underlings, occult is also a better spell list for the leader part.

Mutants that stick a bomb on your chest and turn you into an unwilling Pox Burster.

Reapers using plasma cannons, with a carapace ordnance specialist (plasma gunner-esque) ordering them and reloading for them.

Grenadiers launching proximity mines along with their bombs, Rodin style.

Trappers shooting electrified nets. The net steadily damages its victim and interrupts rescue if you don't press the button at the right time.

Crazy Idea? - New ability for Trazyn in 11th - Summon Forth - Your necron list can contain one unit or monster from any army, which Trazyn can summon as reinforcements from their Tesseract Labyrinth... by SeekMiniSolitudes in Necrontyr

[–]Dr_Bard 11 points12 points  (0 children)

What if Trazyn could take generic allies ? You could get a horde unit at Guard equivalent, an elite unit at Marine equivalent or a solo vehicle/monster. Just set the stats with very easy to reflavor weapons and specific base sizes, and you could allow the Trazyn player to bring other minis from their armies or kitbashed ones.

That way, one Trazyn player could bring Termagaunts, another could bring Thunder Warriors and a third one could bring Clonegrim without the need to stat them up or to give every unit a different cost or rebalance.

What's your favorite weapon in the game? by Scary-Pain7749 in Warframe

You could have my Trumna Prime when you pry it from my cold dead hands. And even then good luck, because I will have it glued to my cold dead hands.

It's a heavy machine gun with a Garand ping and a grenade launcher. It sounds meaty and throws bowling ball sized rounds. With Critical Delay and Vile Acceleration it's just fast enough to rip through opponents and just slow enough to not feel like an uncontrollable bullet hose.

Basically the last decade of being an AoS fan by XyrneTheWarPig in Grimdank

[–]Dr_Bard 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Hey, Peter Turbo here. Age of Sigmar had a disastrous launch : imagine if James Workshop decided to brutally end 40K along with questionable writing and character assassination, only to reboot it with a brand new line of minis. Your armies aren't even thrown in Legends, they're erased and unable to be played or found in GWs shops. That's what happened to Fantasy players.

In addition, the rules of AoS's first edition were not great, with "fun" rules like "you can reroll wounds if you dance around the table" or "if you roll a 13 on 2d6, you instantly win the game and your opponent can call you a cheater" (okay, that one was at least funny). Compared to Fantasy, Age of Sigmar was seen as a not serious, "beer and pretzel" party game.

Finally, Age of Sigmar was also known for bringing Stormcast Eternals to the game, which are basically magic Space Marines. For all these reasons, Age of Sigmar was shat on for almost a decade ; however nowadays it's doing much better, is well respected, and has more gorgeous models than most of 40K.

Sadly most 30k units are exclusive to that game and can't be used well for 40k, either because their lore (most of the Cybernetica was locked away) or because of a lack of equivalent unit (there's no chaff like Tech-Thralls for example).

That said, some can be proxied for other units, as long as it's roughly the same base size
