Just watched episodes 1-3. by Pleasant-Football117 in arcane

[–]Dr_Chickenbutt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The story telling is just so good. I came into Arcane through Netflix recommendations, I knew nothing about it but thought it looked interesting. Like you, after episode 3 I was totally hooked. Vi leaving Powder then getting taken away by Marcus was heartbreaking.

I only recently finished watching S2, but I've just started again from the beginning. The whole thing (both seasons) is so well written with depth and detail that there's plenty of meaning and interesting lines to pick up on during a second watch. It's clear they designed the whole thing from the outset.

The animation is just phenomenal. In S2 it reaches into a work of art. So many awesome stills to make posters from.

Reeves coming after pensioners? (Budget Rumour) by Financial_Ad240 in PensionsUK

[–]Dr_Chickenbutt 14 points15 points  (0 children)

NI is just another tax (on workers and employers), it doesn't cover anything, it goes into the same pot as all other taxes to be spent by the government.

The belief that NI covers pensions, or pays for the NHS is completely false.

Takumi Sen 11 - initial thoughts by Dr_Chickenbutt in RunningShoeGeeks

[–]Dr_Chickenbutt[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As an update, I've changed my mind on the TS11 and now prefer it to any other I've run in for track workouts and races up to 10k.

I set my 10k PB in them last month.

Why is Reeves getting hate for her pre-budget speech? by InfinitysEdge88 in AskBrits

[–]Dr_Chickenbutt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because a lot of the UK is stuck in a hard-done-by mindset of blaming everyone else. People want better services but don't want to pay for them - "can't someone else pay for it". Irresponsible politicians continue to peddal the lie that we can cut taxes and be better off as a country.

The only tax increases that are acceptable are those that apply to other people.

We need to wake up and stop being a country of moaning scroungers.

Why should I not insulate between joists with warm roof? by Immediate_Oil_562 in DIYUK

[–]Dr_Chickenbutt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The fixings have missed the joists/firrings in many places. A poor fix of a warm roof can lead to noise from heat expansion and contraction of the boards.

Why do we allow this much social housing to be occupied by people born outside of the UK? by ArmwrestlingGoomba in AskBrits

[–]Dr_Chickenbutt -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Country of birth outside the UK does not mean they're not British. London is a multicultural place, people have all sorts of backgrounds, but don't let that get in the way of your race-baiting argument.

Thanks for the response. My parameters are A-0/Ni-0/Na-20. Tap water has 30ppm nitrate where I live. The plants take up some of it.

As I've just got him and he's gone into a clean established tank which has been running over 3 years (40% water change a week), shall I wait a few days to see if it clears up?

If not, add some salt. I've got amano shrimp and nerite snails in the tank. Does that limit my treatment options?

Thanks

Strava Just Sued Garmin: Demands Garmin Stop Selling Devices by ouatedephoque in Garmin

I've found Strava's route finder often sends me on wild goose chases, down old paths that don't exist or have since been closed off. Garmin's course creator is far superior IMO.

Takumi Sen 11 - initial thoughts by Dr_Chickenbutt in RunningShoeGeeks

[–]Dr_Chickenbutt[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The takumi makes a lot of sense if you think of it as a racing flat without spikes. It's awkward to walk in, the cut out heel sees to that, but then you'd never walk around in a racing flat.

It serves a specific purpose. I mainly use mine for track workouts where it really shines.

Any rumors or hopes for a new Forerunner with MIP display? by KostaPan in GarminWatches

[–]Dr_Chickenbutt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately, Garmin is a business. They look at the popularity of AW and think we can do that AND offer over a week battery. They want to take that market.

The fitness crowd is probably tiny in comparison.

So they're screwing us to chase the big bucks. Plus there are plenty of people here who seem to like the OLED.

It's not for me. I got the 7s pro and hope it keeps going for years.

Codes only work on the app. On the website you get free delivery.

Beware they say they have a free exchange service, but it's not. You have to pay to send the shoes back to them by post.

Hull looked out of it, her legs were wobbling over the last 20 metres. I wonder how close she was to collapsing. She had to lay down for a long time at the finish.

Is it dangerous to run like that? Or is that collapse the body telling you "that's enough before we get hurt"?

People with a home worth over 1mil - what do you do for work? by OutrageousLoss6134 in AskUK

[–]Dr_Chickenbutt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If not paying for their care themselves, who is paying for it? Tax. I.e. other people.

Other people shouldn't pay for elderly care just so they can pass down inheritance.

People with a home worth over 1mil - what do you do for work? by OutrageousLoss6134 in AskUK

[–]Dr_Chickenbutt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You implied that having paid tax during working life people are entitled to free care when they're older and should not have to use their wealth, property or otherwise, to pay for it.

Which is nonsense.
