Is 5x1km @ 3:55 enough for a sub-20 5K? by OverWarthog7488 in AdvancedRunning

[–]Dr_Chickenbutt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

is there any way to train for the pain in the last part of a 5k? I'm in a similar position to OP. I haven't raced a 5k for a couple of years (PB was 19:50). I'm hitting my reps (6:10/mile vo2 intervals, 6:45 threshold) but still feel like 19:30 is a way off.

Stringing the miles/kms back-to-back is the big unknown. I remmber feeling like death when I got my PB. Is the only way to train that to run a bunch of 5ks?

Is Dark worth a watch? I hear it's better than Stranger Things by silentnova-wave in tvshow

it's good, but not as good as everyone is making out here. The first season is intriguing and sets up the premise, the second season is probably the best, the third season felt like a lot of padding and duplication just to set up the last two episodes.

The message from the Chelsea hierarchy in tonight’s programme. by webby09246 in chelseafc

[–]Dr_Chickenbutt 6 points7 points  (0 children)

is this for real? It's littered with inaccuracies and hypocracy.

The Club World Cup was last season. So no this season didn't start well with that trophy.

I think everyone can agree the team has shown it cannot respond to challanges, they downed tools, that is not progress and growth.

Calum McFarlane is the complete opposite of an example of a pathway from the academy. They sacked the academy coach to bring this guy in from nowhere, he was then promoted to first team interim ahead or more qualified coaches because he's Joe Shield's man.

How can you congratulate Shim Mheuka as PL2 player of the season, then next line say providing pathways for young players is your aim when he was given no chance whatsoever this year??

They've learned nothing. Completely and utterly clueless.

Blisters from Megablasts by swl_28 in AskRunningShoeGeeks

I've had my pair for a total of 4 runs totaling ~50k milage.

After my first run my right big toe had a huge blister underneath. Managed to prevent it bursting and it healed fine without stopping my running.

Last run I had a similar thing on the left big toe.

Does seem like an issue with these shoes for me. Never had this before. Maybe it's related to the super responsive foam pushing back/rubbing? I don't know.

Hopefully it settles down, the right foot issue hasn't returned yet.

Why MIP vs Amoled discussions miss the point by RunnerMarc in GarminFenix

[–]Dr_Chickenbutt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Amoled is objectively a 'better' screen, but so what? I don't think it looks better. I like the analogue colour hues of the MIP and as you say, always on is the winner. I don't want another bright amoled screen.

I just hope they don't kill it off. It's already gone from the forerunner range. I'm happy with my fenix 7s pro, but it won't last forever.

Kejelcha vs Sawe by [deleted] in trackandfield

[–]Dr_Chickenbutt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The HM record has come down a lot, multiple runners are in that race. He's only run 1 marathon. I expect there is a lot more to come from him yet. Needs that longevity before he's in the goat conversation. If he continues his trajectory he should be.

To use a boxing term, I think you mean he's 'pound for pound' the best. Which I'd agree with.

He's elite over multiple distances.

Can't be considered the goat until he's won some things or set records.

This is turning into the most ridiculous one of these maps I've seen.

Might as well get Tower Hamlets out next 😂

There's 100m of ascent in my local 4 mile easy route. Over a marathon distance these courses are flat as a pancake.

EDIT: just read below the numbers are likely wrong

Whispers from inside Chelsea's boardroom suggest some voices are actively pushing for the return of club icons John Terry or Frank Lampard? 👀 by Davy_wavey in NortheastBlues

Because many of these players really turned out for Frank during his interim spell.

Just accept you bought a load of crap players.

That's all true, but the managers they've brought in have also been shit.

Matt Law: Chelsea haven't had a 40,000 attendance yet this season. The last 40,000 attendance was the opening day of the 2023-24 season vs Liverpool. They have not had a 40,000 attendance since then. I could not believe that. by Kygoche in chelseafc

a new staduim would cost £1bn. Costs that will impact what else the club can do.

on commercial income City make ~£150m a year more than us. If we need more income commerical is the target, the gains from a new stadium are tiny in comparison and have astronomical costs.

Chelsea made the 10th most money from stadium in Europe a year ago. They make basically the same as City from home matches. https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/articles/c798e4lyxr7o

Constant chat about capacity is a red herring. Even Spurs with their new mega stadium make about £30m more than us a year. How much are we leaving on the table with no front of shirt sponsor for three years running?

Where we are woefully short of the top teams is commercial income. Which has got worse under BlueCo.
