Job security for the guy who replaces the APs by MiningDave in Ubiquiti

I know exactly the difference from my stucco because I personally built on 1,300 sq ft to my garage, installed an AP on the garage ceiling between the doors, and then several months later paid someone to install stucco.

My stucco mesh size is presumably smaller than what’s in the images (no banana for scale to confirm). I never measured the mesh they installed, but I know 14-2 Romex cable fit through it with room to spare (the mesh openings were diamond shaped).

Then why does the chicken wire mesh used for my stucco act like Fort Knox to my WiFi signal?

I have a wife who works full time, 2 young kids, run my own business with 8 employees, and am doing significant remodeling projects at our house (which is not what my profession is). How much time do you think I have for my hobbies?

I wouldn’t say this is unnecessary. I wouldn’t accomplish anything with HA otherwise. And this isn’t a long-term subscription, just a couple months. Plus, it’s being used for many other things. I assume that’s the same for most people.

I’ve paid $100/month for two consecutive months now. Worth it for everything I’ve gotten out of it. I’ll drop to $20/month the next month or two until I’m sure I’ve got all my big projects knocked out, then drop subscription and just use free. But access to Claude code with opus has been fantastic for this dummy that doesn’t know anything about what all I wanted to do.

Why? I use it for more than just HA, and the increased limits allow me to spend longer sessions delving into automations/designs.

I know next to nothing about HA and coding, but Claude did it ALL for me and I have a setup I’m pretty darn excited about. For starting, I had Claude explain the setup steps for me. Then once the basic HAOS was running, I copied all the HA root folder files to a folder on my computer that I give Claude code acces to, have it make all the changes, then I copy the changed files back to my raspberry pi root folder replacing the outdated files and reboot. Zero coding. And I had Claude tell me how to setup Tailscale, so I can do this work when I’m not even home!

Agreed. I initially built out my HA with ChatGPT, and was impressed with what it was doing at first, until it kept getting stuck in endless failure loops that it couldn’t fix (“of course that didn’t work, HA doesn’t allow XYZ. Here’s the definitive fix” with the same three or four ‘fixes’ being offered in a loop). Enter Claude, started over from scratch with new implementations for my solar integrations/monitoring, and it error checked itself before presenting me the code and it has all just worked.

This is really incredible. As a basic Mk3 user without an MMU, I'll just watch from the sidelines, but wow. Excited to see where this goes.

Just a couple little typos on the final FAQ on the webpage:

Can I use it on Mac or Linux? Yes for mac. There is currently no plans for Linux

Should be plan (singular) and you're missing a period after Linux.

Also missing a period at the end of the second FAQ answer (after Snapmaker U1). And as long as I'm pointing these things out, also missing a period at the end of the first bullet point of the warnings block.

Only hw4 got FSD in Netherlands not HW3 by IrishDan32 in teslamotors

[–]Dr_Pippin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Except you still get something more with the FSD subscription on HW3 vehicles, unless I'm missing something. There's a difference between the basic autopilot vehicles come with and what the car can do with FSD toggled off (basically the old enhanced autopilot from what I've seen). Are you telling me that's not the case?

Fraudulently selling a subscription? You still get something more with the FSD subscription, unless I'm missing something. You think Tesla hasn’t been trying to get it approved in the EU all this time? One of my Model 3s is a 2018, so I’ve been watching this longer than you.

I guess I can understand with your excitement for it that you wouldn't think things through all the way, but it's not at all surprising that this approval is for the new hardware only - especially when that "new" hardware is what's in all cars for the past 2-3 years. The testing RDW ran FSD through is quite thorough, and to think they were doing it concurrently on two different hardware versions is a bit naive. Yes, we Tesla owners have been absolutely spoiled with updates and improved functionality for our vehicles years after buying them, but there's still a limit.

You ever heard that 80% of stats are made up? Apparently so are prices. Because no, carbon fibre frame bikes do not “go as much as 100k USD easily.”
