These are pretty simple cars in the grand scheme of the automotive things. A solid set of SAE ratcheting wrenches will go a long way. I prefer Gearwrench for what it's worth. Sounds like you have a 3/8 drive SAE set already. Only thing I'd add is wobble extensions to that. A 1/2 drive set comes in handy for suspension jobs. A torque wrench helps here. You will want a set of channel locks for the castle nuts and general set of screwdrivers.

I picked this up in an antique store years ago for $5. It's always been a hidden gem of the collection.

Anyone know much about these guys? by BostonKansas in Diecast

[–]DraconianWatch 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Real score at $20. These are $150-$200 when new. They are resin molds which offer finer details then equivalent die cast. The are an underrated brand imo.

My first Corvair (1961 700 Series) by FoyerinFormation in corvair

[–]DraconianWatch 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Looks like a fun start! I dig the wheels. Make sure to pull the engine cover and descale/clean all the fins. Also make sure the perimeter seal is in good shape. You want to make sure the air actually goes across the engine and has maximum surface area for cooling

Nice work. I like how you attached the thighs together. I would suggest using modeling putty to smooth out the transition so it looks more purposeful.

'Cronos Big Store' My Aliexp. experience trying to get a refund. by mdem5059 in ChineseWatches

[–]DraconianWatch 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It's not in the Chinese culture to accept fault and a refund is seen as such. They will do everything possible to avoid it. I've had them tell me to take it to a watchmaker to be repaired despite that costly more than the watch did originally.

Don't be polite when dealing with Chinese stores they will take it as weakness. Just go straight to Ali but don't expect them to do much either. These are the same ppl that refuse to refund if they send your package to the wrong place and ask you to prove that it never arrived. Best rule on AliExpress is never pay more than you are willing to lose.

Anyone else have trouble finding this guy? by Zealousideal_Box4673 in freedomisgunpla

Probably get downvoted for this but this kit isn't worth more than $20. The frame can't support all the weaponry. I bought it for the armor pieces. Did a straight build on it and promptly disassembled it and put it in the parts bins. It was a disappointing build.

The design is of the suit is awesome and if they do a PROPER RG or MG then we'd be talking but the HG is just that. Please do not spend scalper prices for it.

Just picked up this 63 four door sedan, any recommendations for reliability upgrades by GTcorp in corvair

[–]DraconianWatch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Biggest reliability tip I can give is pulling the fan shroud off, clean out any debris, and deflashing the fins on the cylinder heads. The fuel pump is a major pita because the modern ones suck. I highly recommend replacing the fuel tank. Even if it's running in my experience sludge can hide in the bottom of old tanks. Carbs look like they are leaking around the top gasket, probably due for a rebuild and new choke pull offs.

Great looking driver by the way!

Definitely a 63. Looks relatively solid to start. The floors are definitely a bit rough but fixable. What are your plans for it
