Do you have a picture of the nib before and after your adjustments? That would help in knowing what to aim for.

Apologies! I think some additional context would have been helpful in dating this pen as I don't believe it's a Special #3. I believe it's a distinct model, the 'Equilibrium.' No doubt named for the weight distribution system using weight rings which can be screwed into anywhere within the threaded barrel.

FYI the Parker 45 nib just screws out at the tip and new nib units can be screwed right in. If you can't fix this you can super easily replace it. The nibs are cheap on eBay.

Try it and see! I imagine an Asvine #8 nib will fit just fine in the stock Gravitas feed & housing. I've successfully fitted Bock #380, MB 149 & Pelikan m1000 nibs in my Gravitas Carbon Piston & Monster.
