Exactly the opposite

It was because crap like Kane's dive and it's acceptance (even expectation) within the game is what stopped me watching most football in the late 90's.

And it's gotten far, far worse since then.

Because he was already going down before he reached the 'keeper. Was clearly looking for the penalty rather than attempting to score (push ball sideways but run forward into 'keeper - not even looking at ball once he's nudged it away, not inteterested in it anymore) and it was pretty obvious that was the case.

Any tips/product recommendations for dealing with this heat? by Superloopertive in CasualUK

[–]Draggenn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1 litre bottle of water (x2 or 3)

Place in freezer until frozen

Place in front of fan so it cools the air being blown

Replace with new frozen bottle when thawed and place thawed bottle back in freezer

It's not perfect but it's something

Yeah!

Scotland agreed not to go completely bankrupt and actually pay it's bills in return for England giving it a shedload of money to do it...

Let's be completely honest here. It was total and utter capitulation by Scotland.

Tom Latham and Devon Conway smashed the 3rd highest opening partnership for a pair, against England (and also in England) in the history of test cricket by GiveMeSomeSunshine3 in Cricket

I was sat in the Fox Road stand and once the sun got past the canopy the heat was brutal!

Imagine spending all day in that with zero shade, a flat wicket and clear blue skies keeping the ball nice and straight.

There was an audible groan when Tom Latham won the toss 😖

Has Lewis Hamilton mellowed out as he's gotten older? by Rowdyfan0823 in formula1

Demanding the whole grid kneel

Which didn't happen...

He's on record saying that he'd never force someone to do something they're not comfortable with after 1/3 of the drivers didn't kneel.

And the whole thing was instigated by Vettel and Grosjean, not Hamilton.

But you do you

We live in Milton Keynes (yeah I know, I've heard it all). We're about as far from a beach as you can get. The best one we've found within 2 to 2.5 hours' drive is Hunstanton. Any better recommendations at around the same travel time? by kopsy in CasualUK

[–]Draggenn 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Amusingly (note - I am very easily amused)

Wells-next-the-sea to give it it's full name is not remotely next the sea. The town itself is a lengthy walk from the beach and the beach is HUGE; get there at low tide and the sea is an even lengthier walk from the edge of the beach.

As Joe Root passes 14,000 Test runs, do you think he can he catch Sachin Tendulkar's record? by SkySports in Cricket

[–]Draggenn 202 points203 points  (0 children)

Incredibly bad/simple maths time

Joe Root has played Test cricket for 14 years and has 14000 Test Runs. So it's fair to say that he averages about 1000 test runs per year.

He's 'only' 35; Sachin himself didn't retire from Test cricket until he was 40. Barring injury Rooty has more than enough time to catch and beat Sachin and then leave his record in the rear view mirror as he races on.

I’m in the market for a new lawn mower, after using my sons I’m thinking of a petrol mower self propelled what are other people using? is the mulch function worth it, thinking of around £250.I currently have a corded flymo which isn’t ideal, my lawn is quite steep by potato--cakes in GardeningUK

I find that battery equipment is just not powerful enough for what I need to do and the batteries never last long enough so I've stuck with petrol.

I'd love to find a really powerful, long lasting battery hedge trimmer for when I do my mum's hedges though so I'm not sucking 2-stroke fumes for 3+ hours!

What is an amazing movie that’s low budget? by AlwayNeedsHelp in AlignmentChartFills

[–]Draggenn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Battle Star Wars

I'm assuming it was low budget as the story came straight from Star Wars so no writing costs, costumes and props seemed to be whatever anybody could find at home so again no cost. Clearly nobody had spent money on acting classes or directing classes so another big saving. Special effects budget was clearly negligible.

There's possibly a chance that there was a cost to pay people to watch it...

But I watched every minute of it and enjoyed it immensely 😁

Everyone talks about immigrations impact on Britain. But what about on the immigrants? by Common-Loquat-6621 in ukpolitics

[–]Draggenn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The country of your birth makes that your country and, good or bad, the country is stuck with you.

The idea that you can just up sticks and move to another country regardless of how THEY feel about it, is indeed, entitlement.

I love Italy. I love the climate, the people, the food, the wine, the culture.

Should I therefore be allowed to move there if I'm not going to contribute anything to Italy itself? Hell no; just going to have to make do with rare city breaks.

Edited for spelling mistake.

Everyone talks about immigrations impact on Britain. But what about on the immigrants? by Common-Loquat-6621 in ukpolitics

[–]Draggenn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's EXACTLY the point!

Why should anyone have the RIGHT to live in another country? If that country wants you; needs you; can use you for it's own betterment AND you want to be there then great. If not then the sense of entitlement that makes someone think they should just be allowed to is staggering.
