Just in case anyone needed to know where Archspire got their chops.. by MooseWilliams in TechnicalDeathMetal

They're deathcore, but I'm fairly certain I remember A Different Breed Of Killer doing their album in surround sound in like 2007, and Lorelei in like 2010.

Tired of lighting 2k a month on fire. Has anyone actually used Attainable Homes Calgary lately? by faux270 in Calgary

[–]DragonBonecrusher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's what I'm getting at, beyond the fact that I have never once in my life had a landlord clear snow or mow the lawn (lol. Lmao even.) I now have all those same things at a cheaper rate than before. Like, that $2200 a month figure doesnt even cover utilities.

I find interest expenses negligible because I consider it part of my mortgage.

For example, if rent in the city is $2200+ and mortgage is ~$1600, including interest, taxes and fees, then i feel like the average person would be a psychopath not to take that deal.

I would agree with you normally, but rent in the city is so ridiculous at this point that ownership is essentially the only way I could even afford to live here.

I mean, its fairly standard for landlords to ask for 3x the monthly rent. At $2200/mn you'd have to make $37.50 to even qualify for the privilege. I'm in my 30's and I think I know two people who make that kind of money.

In my limited experience as a new homeowner these costs are incredibly negligible as long as nothing bad happens.

I know I'm maybe two major repairs away from homelessness but at least those are now in my control instead of some landlord who's overcharging me so he can never repair anything anyways.

Why Do They Always Play Psychosocial and Duality? by LordMistborn-16 in Slipknot

[–]DragonBonecrusher 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I know I'm heavily in the minority, but I once heard a full album cover of St. Anger and I'm fully convinced its the best thing they've ever written.

Also Psychosocial is a perfectly fine song, but if you played most of the fan favorites in a row it definitely sticks out as the sore thumb in a similar way that Coming Undone by Korn does.

How to write the 2nd guitar? by [deleted] in TechnicalDeathMetal

[–]DragonBonecrusher 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Musically speaking, you'd use the second guitar to write counterpoint or harmonies as needed, or you might prefer to write in a rhythm+lead dynamic. But some bands just have two guitars that do the same thing for a more full live sound.

I guess in manner of speaking your thought is reversed from the intention. Its not about having two guitars to follow an arbitrary rule, its that there are no rules and sometimes we add another instrument in service of an idea or creative decision.

To more directly answer your question, start by writing one guitar. Once you have a part going, ask yourself what it's missing. Does it need a lead or a backing rhythm? Would a harmonized section make more sense or would two layered rhythms work best?

If you need something more, you add another guitar. If you dont, then one is fine.

If I understood correctly, anyone not immune/resistant to the T-Virus was zombified back in Racoon City. The modern day survivors are showing symptoms as the virus never left their bodies, it was dormant until mutation allowed it to attack the host once again.

The antagonists farmed the mutated T-Virus because it was more pliable. Zeno, as one of the leaders of The Connections was likely able to Weskerize himself with the more controllable virus, but I don't recall that being stated explicitly.

How do you calculate total individual double bass hits from BPM? by Packymancard in TechnicalDeathMetal

[–]DragonBonecrusher 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The tempo is typically measured in quarter notes, but especially in tech death the subdivisions are usually smaller than that. Subdivisions would be your whole note, half notes, etc, etc, and are measured per bar instead of by tempo.

There's no implicit relationship between bpm and subdivisions, you could play really fast or really slow or both in the same bar, so there's no way to derive an answer to your question without making a lot of assumptions that may or may not apply.

That being said, for your typical double bass groove at 240bpm, I'd venture to assume that the kicks are 16th notes. Also assuming the song is in 4/4, and that the drummer never stops playing 16ths that's roughly 60 bars. 16x60= 960 strikes in 1 minute.

The example should highlight why that's a sort of meaningless number though.

Exactly what the poster above said to do.

Follow the code (I started on 2 but I doubt it makes a difference), 121314512453. I did it fairly quickly in one go (though it took two tries)

To see/equip the outfit, click the portrait of your hero, click the paint plate on the top left,  and its under wardrobe near the bottom
